Norv is not a bad coach.
 
Our defensive line sucks and it's not even debatable. They are always blown off the line of scrimmage.
 
I'm looking for bright spots, and there's a couple. But overall the defense flat out stinks.

With a different style of defense? Sure. You cannot accurately assess this defense without all of your starters...ESPECIALLY after 1 1/2 preseason games.

Are you going to honestly sit there and proclaim to know how this defense will be this year? If so, let's get it on record.

Considering that last year Jenkins was one of the worst starting CBs in the entire league and Newman is, AGAIN, gimpy. Yes, that's actually possible. Scandrick was playing better than both Newman and Jenkins at the end of last year, and the reports out of camp is that he's having a great camp. It's really nice to see it translate to an actual game.:rolleyes:
 
I get the Newman and Jenkins are out but I don't like the Front 7 vs the run last week and tonite.
 
I went into my options today and noticed I had a lot of folks on "ignore",whether from the old politics forum,or from really stupid,inane comments about the team. I decided to start the year fresh by cancelling those "ignores".
I can see now it won't take long to start adding to it again.
 
But, but we re-signed Spears?!? How can this be?

sure couldn't get off the field on 3rd down thats for sure, but i'll hold judgement to say we stink.

Not really considering he did a decent job with the Commanders and has been fairly successful in San Diego.

That is not awful.

The D-line is getting pushed back way too easily.

In fact, so is the offensive line.
 
The defense is still way too soft in the middle. Almost every run up the middle goes for 4-5 yards. There's not much pressure without a blitz and WRs are still allowed to run free in the secondary. I don't see anything different on D except they look confused before the snap on every play. At some point we are going to have to realize that some of our supposed talented players are simply just average guys.
