I'm kinda glad that we didn't take Jamaal Charles now. These Texas RB's seem to have bust written all over them...for all the wrong reasons.

"Walletfullacash" syndrome.

Makes one instantly stupid, which explains precisely why I'm a genius.

To be arrested for PI you have to be an "endangerment" to yourself or others. Either they were acting stupid in some way or the cop was just being an ***. If he was just being an ***, they should be able to get out of it no problem in court.

Your required to wear a life jacket. He wasnt. And he failed a field sobriety test. Thats P.I right there. Your endangering your self by being intoxicated and not weaing a life jacket.
They watch and observe the occupants of a boat from a distance before coming over. I have been stopped and talked to so many times out fishing that its not funny. And often they hit every boat in a cove and do not try and just pick and choose the party boats etc. Consider it like a late night road block on the streets looking for DWI's except on a boat at 3:00 PM . The number of boating accidents where alcohol is involved is pretty high.

I am not picking on Cedric here. I drink when out fishing and I have been checked when I had a life jacket in a small boat not 40 feet from the bank.

If Benson was drinking, without a life jacket, and driving that boat its a DWI or DUI in the state of Texas anyway. If he is lucky he can get it reduced to P.I. if he was not driving the boat.

They said on Mike and Mike this morning that his mom was on the boat as well so I dont know how crazy he'd be getting under those circumstances.

The question still remains was he driving the boat?

Benson has a totaly different story of what happened:

"I was not intoxicated," Benson told the Chicago Sun-Times. "There was alcohol on the boat and others were enjoying themselves, but I wasn't drunk."

"They gave me a field sobriety test, told me to say my ABCs and told me to count from 1 to 4 up and down," Benson told the Chicago Tribune. "I'm thinking, I passed all the tests, did everything right. Then the officer told me we needed to go to land to take more tests. I politely asked him why we needed to go to land to take more tests when I took every test. Then he sprayed me with mace, on his boat.

"When Benson did not pass the test, he presented himself as a threat to the officer and argued about whether or not he would be taken to land to have a follow-up field sobriety test performed on land and refused to put on a life jacket," the authority said in a statement. The officer had to use pepper spray to subdue Benson, a move the running back doesn't understand.

benson's account is probably a lot more accurate than the news account. cops in texas are country bumpkins that really have it in for you unless you're a good ol boy like them.

He reportedly ran for 2 yards from the officers but was caught from behind.

What about this part of his story...?

"Nobody saw what he did to me," Benson told the newspaper. "I started screaming for my mother to come. That's when they put me under arrest. And the officer threw a life jacket over my head.

"Once we got to land, the Travis County police grabbed me and kicked my feet from under me. So I landed on my back while I was handcuffed. They held me down and held the water hose over my face. I couldn't breathe, I'm choking, I'm begging the cops, 'Please stop. Please stop.' Then they picked me up and dragged me backward toward their car. And I'm still being polite, asking them, 'Sir, could you please allow me to walk like a man to your cop car?' They just kept dragging me on."

That's more than just his side. That is accusing the authorities of much more than being arrested not being intoxicated.
