It really hasn't been fair to CeeDee since he's been playing opposite Amari and really only had Dak for about 17 games or so?

You don't think Jefferson having Adam Thielen was kinda the same thing? Thielen had 113 catches 2 seasons before Jefferson arrived. Jefferson just emerged as the bigger all around threat.

We absolutely missed....but at least we drafted a pro bowl WR. It could have been worse, we could have drafted who the Eagles took...lol

At the time of the NFL draft - there was a question (and yes flaming disgruntlement) among Cowboys fan nation about why are drafting another WR, when we already had Cooper and Gallup ?

Instead of drafting a defensive prospect for a unit desperately needing impact players ?

Turns out considering what was still left on the draft board, and remaining prospects, the Cowboys may the right choice selecting a WR in the 1st round,.. but years later, there's a question as to did we miss out on the wrong 1st round WR ?

Did we get it wrong with CeeDee Lamb over Vikes WR Justin Jefferson who went five picks later ?

What's been the biggest differences between the two since ?
It’s embarrassing that you are even asking this. Anybody trying to debate if CeeDee is better than Jefferson is an idiot. Watch Jefferson play. He is hands down the best WR in football right now, and may have been the second that he was drafted into the NFL.

not really, only teams that wanted a wr or needed one.
most of the teams that picked in say the top 21, needed other positions, and wanted a specific player for that role.
I dont think dallas was looking for or needing a wr, they just jumped on lamb as he was there, but so was jefferson.
I guess many teams considered lamb to be the better wr based on college, but Jefferson has proved he was the better wr in that draft.
Like i said, HINDSIGHT Is as special as these Posts.. real special TJ watt other many slides in drafts. So?? we made the right choice at the time. theres no going back, why even debate it.. jeez Period, no need for JJ kneejerk overreactions. lmao..

Hindsight is 20/20. Jefferson was considered a slot only prospect at the time and has really proven that wrong. Lamb was suppose to be a yac monster, but that really hasn't materialized. Yes, Jefferson is better at this juncture as he is better then the 1st 4 taken ahead of him.

I tend to think Cowboys overestimated Lamb’s skill set coming out of the NFL draft. I tend to think the sorry state of the defenses in the Big 12 during his Sooner career, made him look
more explosive than what he is now at the NFL level.

- They likely thought he was a dynamic open field runner and punt returner. But Lamb struck me as actually slow as a punt returner at the NFL , I don’t think he has burst to hit the edges/corners
– and that’s also why he isn’t a great jet sweep guy.

They thought he had significant “ field fast’ play speed. But I haven’t seen him challenging and pushing defenses like that- he’s not a dynamic deep vertical threat, imo.

@Cowboyny was right. Coming into the NFL draft, Jefferson was tagged as more of a big slot guy, and thought he was more of a product as LSU big splash offense. Several teams – especially Philly with Jalen Reagor, just flat missed that.

- But no way means can I say Lamb is or will be a bust. He may not be as top end fast, splashy and explosive as Jefferson is displaying, And of course ,I don’t see Lamb as top end explosive as
the likes of Chase, Hill, Diggs, Waddle, Adams, Metcalf and Samuels on that level, and I don’t see CeeDee as uniquely shifty, crafty and quick as a Cooper Kupp.

-But at highest potential I could see Lamb being more like Chargers' Pro Bowl WR Keenan Allen.
A big, smooth possession type that excels at moving the chains vs zones, and the occasional twisting circus catches. That's not bad at all either.

Everyone got it wrong, 4 receivers went before Jefferson… Henry Ruggs, Jerry Jeudy, Lamb and Jalen Reagor. Lamb, at least barring injury is going to be a really good receiver in this league for a long time. Being from Louisiana I didn’t really get the infatuation with Lamb over Jefferson by “many” on this board but I’m not going to not pick the decision now. Still enjoying the fact that the eagles passed on him!

Ceedee isn’t what we thought he’d be. He’s peaked.

Lamb also had a great QB in college.

We probably did second best as far as WRs picked in the 1st round in 2020. At least we didn't do as bad as the Raiders, Broncos or the Eagirls.

All NFL teams have talented players with the biggest differentiation being how those talented players are utilized to take advantage of that talent. It seems we do a poor job of developing schemes to take advantage of the skills our players possess and allow them to flourish in the system.
So I think it’s not a question of getting a WR pick right or wrong, but using the WR in the most efficient way so they contribute to, and are successful within framework of the offense.
