Jefferson is a superstar at the position, but Lamb is good in his own right. Might not be that yac machine in college, but he is a gamer. If he can continue to develop as a route runner and become a more consistent catcher, his potential still remains high. What I have seen, he plays good in clutch situations, remember the Giant game and the Patriots last season come to mind.

What if Lamb has to go up against Eagles Darius Slay ?.. Jalen Ramsey ? ..Patrick Surtain Jr. ? ,.. CeeDee will be facing the same stellar challenge and task that
Amari Cooper was held up to, Can he beat the better coverage CB's ? If he is seeking that among highest paid WRs, that's gonna be the lead measuring stick that
needs to placed on him..imo.

Yes, he still has to prove he is worthy of a #1 contract extension.

At the time of the NFL draft - there was a question (and yes flaming disgruntlement) among Cowboys fan nation about why are drafting another WR, when we already had Cooper and Gallup ?

Instead of drafting a defensive prospect for a unit desperately needing impact players ?

Turns out considering what was still left on the draft board, and remaining prospects, the Cowboys may the right choice selecting a WR in the 1st round,.. but years later, there's a question as to did we miss out on the wrong 1st round WR ?

Did we get it wrong with CeeDee Lamb over Vikes WR Justin Jefferson who went five picks later ?

What's been the biggest differences between the two since ?
Obviously we got it wrong, but so did most of the NFL. We still got a very good receiver at the spot he dropped, but he’s not as good as Jefferson.

I don’t dislike Cedee Lamb. But if we’re trying to be objective here, Jefferson is clearly the better receiver.

Lamb is certainly a good nfl receiver. Is Lamb a top 10 WR in this league? No. Maybe top 20. Is Jefferson top 10. Yes. At this point what worries me about Lamb long term is paying him top receiver cash in a year or two and he’s not going to be worth it.

I’m curious why you think Lamb isn’t a top 10 WR?

Yup, keep in mind some of the best WRs in football didn’t hit their stride until year 4/5. Lamb is in year 3.

No reason to think he can’t continue to develop and become one of the top WRs in football…especially considering in 3 years or so some of the vets will start to fade.

He is still developing and his first time bring the team’s top receiver. Needs to become more consistent, to reach his full potential

100%…if he can just become a little more consistent in his routes I really believe sky is the limit.

We’re talking about 3K+ yards in his first 3 years and he’s only now becoming the top guy in targets.

He’s gonna get paid a ton…25+ mil will be his floor IMO.

Fair question. Here are my reasons:
  • Finished 21st in receptions in 2021 with 79 receptions.
  • Finished 16th in yards in 2021 with 1,102 yds.
  • Finished 35th in TD receptions in 2021 with 6.
  • Had a streak of 17 straight games without 100 yards or more in a game. (Had his first 100 yd game since last Oct last Sunday vs Pack)
  • Went 9 straight games without a TD reception from 2021-22.
  • Has had a problem with drops in his first two years although it’s gotten better.
  • Is known to be a lazy route runner who doesn’t make route adjustments crisply.
  • Is excellent with yards after catch- finished top 5 last year.
  • Doesn’t possess great speed but is very quick.
Hey Lamb is a really good receiver. But the above makes it clear to me, he’s not “elite”. Maybe he can develop more in several areas and become elite. But to me he’s not yet.

Maybe overall, but this years he’s top 10 in just about every category.

Yeah and 31 teams should have taken Tom Brady. CeeDee was a good pick and worthy of his draft slot and the fact that Jefferson in retrospect would have been better doesn’t change that. How about Ruggs and Reagor? Those guys were busts and I could see this thread if we took one of them.

If you want to mostly use stats without looking at the fact that we had more receiving options than some other teams and also threw the ball less then I’ll counter with he is top 10 in yards, receptions and TDs right now. But, I for one do not use stats alone. That being said, I think CeeDee is a legit #1, but without making a list, I doubt I have him as top 10 and think he needs to clean some things up to be considered one. Real close though either way.

Ceedee has definitely been a better player than the 2 receivers drafted in front of him. Jefferson has been the best in the class so far, but you can't be upset with the Cowboys selection.

100%…Lamb was a great pick and is living up to his high draft status.

Man I’m glad we didn’t take Chaisson like half the board wanted to. That’s why you take talent over need.

Maybe Lamb and Dak need to practice more in the QBs backyard field?

I think CeeDee should likely improve with additional experience and Dak throwing to him. Jefferson got a head start on CeeDee, although I think CeeDee is just now beginning to reach his potential as our #1 WR. Whatever that comparison ends up being with the passage of time, it's quite likely that both of them will be especially good draft selections. Here's hoping CeeDee continues to improve with more development to come. No complaints here.
