In HINDSIGHT...yes Dallas got it wrong, and a bunch of teams b4 them got it wrong. If they redrafted that class today with hindsight knowledge, Jefferson wouldn't make it out of the Top 5.

But at the time CeeDee was the correct pick, because he simply was a better prospect than J.J.

It's like saying all the teams that didn't take Tom Brady in the 1st round (including patriots) were "wrong". No they weren't....they just couldn't see into the future. Brady was drafted where he should have been drafted, based on the level of prospect he was coming out.

The Raiders, Broncos and Cowboys got it wrong. The draft is a crapshoot. I believe I heard that Justin Jefferson has more receiving yards at this stage in his career than any NFL receiver ever.

Yea, spot on. Everyone loves their hindsight picks.

It's not a question anymore. We did great, but JJ is next level.

In a few years some of these stud vets will tail off…Hill, Adams, Hops, Kupp, etc…

Lamb is growing into part of the next wave of top WRs in football with Chase, JJ, Diggs, etc…(granted Chase and JJ are already there)

I don’t dislike Cedee Lamb. But if we’re trying to be objective here, Jefferson is clearly the better receiver.

Lamb is certainly a good nfl receiver. Is Lamb a top 10 WR in this league? No. Maybe top 20. Is Jefferson top 10. Yes. At this point what worries me about Lamb long term is paying him top receiver cash in a year or two and he’s not going to be worth it.

Yes, He does, its all debatable.

Lamb on rookie deal or trading picks and handing a wr 100mil?? yup aj even coop you think coopers better but Lamb wasn't supposed to produce without his almighty protector in Coop and yet has having as good or better year than coop with little to no producing wrs on the other side of him? i thought that wasn't possible??

we do this with Dak all the time,. zeke bring up their deals vs others in similar positions with close production for less $$
keeping that in mind, 100% Lamb is top 20..given all teams have 3 WRs, 2 of which are considered starters on the field at the same time(2 #1s) that not bad ranking's truly only 1 per team many rbs the same many OL the same..

WR, DBs etc all have to be ranked differently meaning saying hes 15 is not he same as saying a QB or linemen is 15th..

Lambs getting better hes learning to be total WR vs slot guy and realizing the finer points of reading defenses, communicating with the qb, and route running are far more important now and each week hes going to be coached more and more on these small mistakes in games.

BTW that ist many of them fall ito the same slot manign you can have 7 -1A players so 15-20 isnt truly 15-20 is a bunch of players bunched into the same tiers. like many positions, very few are truly elite and sprate themsleves fromthe "pack" so Lamb being tioer 2 isnt a knock onhim..so hes not elite..

the nfl is not made up of elite players , 53 onactive rosters wekly eliet make up what 10% of roster? so Lambns simnply avery god player, pick wasnt bad, at least hes not bnust like many eahgles and ginat wrs have been of late..

Perepctive makes it easier for fan to just enjoy payer and watch the game vs tryig to rank and debate whose beter/..who cares they dont play each other..
the matchupa are offsen vs defnse eiautoins are all diorferrnt , nio need for these drawn out OPINIONS.
hes not a bust.. b2B 1100-+ seaosn say hes not show me all Copers years from ytear 1 until now i see Copper and Lmab are in fact eaauly as prodcutive,

Wonder if the Vikings owner called Jefferson on draft day and made a big deal over the number he would wear.

Lamb bought into the entitlement situation in Dallas. A star before doing a thing.

It shows on the field with very lazy play….in more ways than one.

This is what we get with Jerry’s Cowboys and the marketing first, winning second mentality.

WE GOT IT COMPLETELY WRONG, EXCEPT if Jefferson played for us, CEEDEE would be the better player!!
Not true. CD would still be dropping balls and running crappy routes for another team. Jefferson here would be the same player. Cousins and Dak are interchangeable, so I don't see a drop off if we had Jefferson.

No...anybody saying otherwise is hindsight.

However Voch Lombardi had Lamb and Jefferson as his top two receivers.
Jefferson is obviously better, but Lamb essentially came in as the number three receiever. Now that he's the number one receiver he's delivering. He's extremely consistent too...only one game under 50 yards, and 7 games of about 70+ yards. (One game out of the 7 he had 68 yards.. but come on)

I guarantee Jefferson would not be considered the best WR in the league if he came here. Especially not with Cooper on the team and Dak as his QB

At the time of the NFL draft - there was a question (and yes flaming disgruntlement) among Cowboys fan nation about why are drafting another WR, when we already had Cooper and Gallup ?

Instead of drafting a defensive prospect for a unit desperately needing impact players ?

Turns out considering what was still left on the draft board, and remaining prospects, the Cowboys may the right choice selecting a WR in the 1st round,.. but years later, there's a question as to did we miss out on the wrong 1st round WR ?

Did we get it wrong with CeeDee Lamb over Vikes WR Justin Jefferson who went five picks later ?

What's been the biggest differences between the two since ?

Jefferson is better than Lamb there is no question. Jefferson is elite and Lamb is on the next tier. Anyone that passed on Jefferson got it wrong. PHilly more than anyone.

JJ was a great route runner in college. Lamb was not. So, yes, it was a mistake. I was one of the very very few who thought drafting Lamb was foolish. I thought we should've traded back

I tend to think Cowboys overestimated Lamb’s skill set coming out of the NFL draft. I tend to think the sorry state of the defenses in the Big 12 during his Sooner career, made him look
more explosive than what he is now at the NFL level.

- They likely thought he was a dynamic open field runner and punt returner. But Lamb struck me as actually slow as a punt returner at the NFL , I don’t think he has burst to hit the edges/corners
– and that’s also why he isn’t a great jet sweep guy.

They thought he had significant “ field fast’ play speed. But I haven’t seen him challenging and pushing defenses like that- he’s not a dynamic deep vertical threat, imo.

@Cowboyny was right. Coming into the NFL draft, Jefferson was tagged as more of a big slot guy, and thought he was more of a product as LSU big splash offense. Several teams – especially Philly with Jalen Reagor, just flat missed that.

- But no way means can I say Lamb is or will be a bust. He may not be as top end fast, splashy and explosive as Jefferson is displaying, And of course ,I don’t see Lamb as top end explosive as
the likes of Chase, Hill, Diggs, Waddle, Adams, Metcalf and Samuels on that level, and I don’t see CeeDee as uniquely shifty, crafty and quick as a Cooper Kupp.

-But at highest potential I could see Lamb being more like Chargers' Pro Bowl WR Keenan Allen.
A big, smooth possession type that excels at moving the chains vs zones, and the occasional twisting circus catches. That's not bad at all either.
Jefferson is a superstar at the position, but Lamb is good in his own right. Might not be that yac machine in college, but he is a gamer. If he can continue to develop as a route runner and become a more consistent catcher, his potential still remains high. What I have seen, he plays good in clutch situations, remember the Giant game and the Patriots last season come to mind.
