I dont think they would trade a top 2 for Butler. As good as Butler is, this year you would trading the potential future face of your franchice and the Celtics are going the long route. It'll be interesting to see what Boston does. They have a young team but most of their best players are free agents in their late 20s. They can either draft an 18/19 year old franchise PG and build around him and their 3rd overall pick from last year SF Jaylen Brown, or they can flip the pick for a veteran like Jimmy Butler to pair up with their other veterans Isiah Thomas, Al Horford and Jae Crowder. I think you go with the potential franchise PG over a 28 year old, 5'9" Isiah Thomas despite how well he's played this season. They can still try to pair whoever they draft with Thomas and invest in a big man in free agency.
Never underestimate what a new Owner will give up to field a contending team aftee a big move.I'll never understand why the Nets threw in the pick swap. Were three first round picks really not enough for the corpses of Garnett and Pierce? Pick swaps have become a clever way of getting around the NBA's ban on trading consecutive picks that may need to be examined (as long as the league remains hell bent OK n protecting teams from themselves).
Also consider at time the Celtics were heading towards a rebuild. No one thought they would be back in playoff contention as quickly as they did. Could be possible Brooklyn didnt see a risk of losing the 2017 pickI'll never understand why the Nets threw in the pick swap. I wish he'd get taken #1 by the Celts, just for the drama.Laker fan here. From all I've heard, Magic really likes Ball. Even if Lakers had #1 pick, they'd most likely still take him.
I would so hate Lavar Ball in BostonI wish he'd get taken #1 by the Celts, just for the drama.
I hear Ball refuses to work out for any team but LA.

If we could flip that pick and Avery for Butler, Id be all over that trade. I dont think Boston is interested in dealing Smart though. Avery is more likely, and Im not sure he is what the Mavs need.I'd still like to steal Marcus Smart from Boston for the 9th pick.
Mavs linked to the French PG but I'd prefer more mature home-town kid, Smart.
Might be able to flip 9th pick and Avery for Butler and still get Fultz for the future if your Boston.
NBA really needs to end this lotto stuff if only because it feels so rigged.
Teams all out tanking for years and stuff. Gross. So bad for the game.
I liked Cuban's idea of basically making the rookies free agents and giving teams a rookie pool with worse teams having more money.
Boston with top pick and Ball in LA? Average fans of any other teams are gonna laugh at that.
D'Angelo Russell reportedly on the block.
I could see a trade involving him for Paul George

Got no qualms with Lonzo. Rare court vision and good upside as a scorer.Oh you mean Lonzo Ball the son? Lavar is very annoying person

His dad will be all over the place if he is a Laker though
