Better than the Spurs.
Ain't that the truth. The Spurs payers (minus Jonathan Simmons) appear to not believe they can with without Kawhi and so it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Pop will change that notion and we'll just have to see how they will respond. I'm not saying the Spurs can beat the Warriors without Kawhi but they can better challenge them than they did in game 2.

Doing away with the lottery wouldn't have affected the Celtics getting the #1 pick. They had the highest odds to get it. Blame it on a dumb trade by the Nets.
i get that but perception is what it is.
the lottery is going to deal with rigged lottery talk as long as they have a lottery.
LA didn't have the best odds of ending up with Lonzo but now have.
I'm not saying it was rigged by any means but in a sport rife for complaints over unfairness the lottery is just another way to continue that perception.

and lord yes that brooklyn trade was terrible.. zero protections is crazy... was reported as top 3 protected initially.
gonna be another top 5 pick next year.

once lebron and GSW slip up in a couple seasons Boston should be the team to beat for a decade.

Boston would have to have legit stars on their team for that to happen. Thomas is one. Other than he, they don't have any other (from my viewpoint) on their roster. Drafting Fultz could be another. Who knows what their other future draft picks bring.

They got Jaylen Brown #3 overall last year. He's having a solid season at SF for a rookie. They can get Fultz this year then get another top 5 pick from the Nets next year. They can sign Gordon Hayward or another free agent this year so they can continue to compete with their veterans while waiting for their young guys to blossom.

The NBA is funny. You have teams who keep getting top picks and it makes you think the league is unfair and then you realize they're still awful. In reality, most of the time, the players either aren't anything special or don't mesh together well... Look at Philly. They spent 3 top picks on centers and now only one of them is still on the team... Then you have LA. They managed to build an entire roster of top picks (Randle at PF, Ingram at SF, Russell at SG, and soon to be Ball at PG) but none of them have looked like they can be elite players... Then you have a team like Minnesota who landed a wing and a big (Wiggins and Towns) who both look like they're going to be elite players for a long time in this league. They also landed solid role players like Lavine. And they still continue to be one of the worst teams in the league... And when a team actually does land a lot of elite talents that play together well and make the team successful (OKC with Durant, Westbrook and Harden), they only stay together for a few years before all going their separate ways... All in all, it's fun to imagine how great the T'Wolves, Lakers, Sixers, Celtics and Pelicans will become, but the reality is, LeBron is about to go to his 7th straight Finals and the Spurs are still relevant.

Well, to be fair, the NBA kinda stepped in and screwed LA in the whole Chris Paul deal. I mean, if the Lakers get Paul, which they really should have IMO, they have a really good chance to win another Championship or two.

NBA really needs to end this lotto stuff if only because it feels so rigged.

Have a watch, a longggg & boring watch, my friend. I seriously doubt that the accounting firm overseeing the 'process' would have signed up for such a 'rigged' system if it were the case.

Oh, you can keep dreaming but it's not gonna help. You're not getting Smart! Go CELTS!!!! LOL :p

Well, if you believe that the Lakers are in the bag for Ball (which is not a bad bet at all IMO), then you either have to move Russell or play him at SG and move Clarkson. There is reportedly, great interest in Clarkson around the league so maybe you package Clarkson with Deng or Mozgov and get rid of one of those ******** salaries. That gives you cap space to go out and sign some guys. This might work with either Russell or Clarkson but if you take Ball, then Clarkson is probably the guy you target but I would hate to lose Clarkson. I really like that guy. You could also just trade the pick and one of those contracts to move down a little bit and take another good player if you are the Lakers.

They have options, I think.

Russell has already moved to SG this season in order to play Clarkson at PG. So it isn't out of the question to see Ball at PG and Russell at SG next season, with Ingram at SF and Randle at PF. All their need is a center and they have a solid young starting 5.

Last time the Celtics got a deal close to this good is when they got Kevin Mchale and Robert Parish in 1980 and won the Championship that year in the spring of 1981. Also won Championship with McHale and Parish in 1984 and 1986.
The Garnet trade was pretty bad too

Interesting question, what do the 76ers do. They have been getting mocked Monk alot, but Jackson may ne better value. However they do need someone to stretch defenses

No need to move Clarkson. He is under contract and can come off the bench. Nick Young is a free agent (with a player option), and I've heard nothing of him wanting to resign.

As for cap space, Magic said Lakers are most likely gonna keep their space this year and use it for 2018, when PGeorge is a free agent. So as of now, don't need to trade Moz or Deng.

Zubac started end of the year until his injury. He's their center.

Most of the talk in Philly is Jackson. Hell if I know. I don't follow college basketball.

Monk is polarizing. People either love him or hate him.
