CFP thread

I just hope that the Indiana-Miami game is a great game.

The Oklahoma-Alabama, Miami-OSU, Ole Miss-Georgia and Ole Miss-Miami games were good to great, but there have been too many disappointing games (unless you were a diehard fan of the winning team of course) for a 12-team playoff.

The other games were 41-10, 51-34 (not really that close), 23-0, 38-3 and 56-22 which were mostly pointless to watch, much less play.

It should be the 12 best teams in the country with no reserved spots and no "but .. but .. it's <insert_recently_top_team_here>" excuses.
Nearly half of those blowout losses were some of the “best teams in the country” including Oregon and TT.

Are you saying that they didn’t belong in the playoffs?

Any playoffs in any sport will always have unexpected blowouts.

I think Miami can make it a lot closer than what people think and I can even see them winning if they can cut down on their mistakes from the Ole Miss game. The home field advantage/not having to travel will be big. Carson Beck has his ups and downs but he will be the most experienced QB that Indiana has played this year.

Miami's defense is also better than Alabama and Oregon. This can be a game that comes down to the 4th quarter

I'm saying that the system used to rank the teams is flawed to the point those matchups were created.

I get that the top 2 teams (the real top 2, not the top 2 biased/flawed CFP ranked teams) may be a lot better than teams 3 through 12 but if that's the case then that means the focus should be on finding the best teams early on in the CFP before making the top 2 play.

Most people knew going in that Tulane and JMU did not belong in the CFP so that was two wasted games right from the start.

What's funny is that Miami was a bubble team that was close to being outside the CFP bubble and now they're about to play for the national championship.

It was the biggest game in Indiana football history.
Of course they swarmed it.
Texas Tech would have done the same thing.
Oregon has fans all over and many in Texas. But this wasn't a super-sized draw for them and was a rematch they had seen at home.
How was this not a draw for Oregon fans but it was for IU? lol Thats the worst reason I've heard yet. It was a game both fan bases had seen before. IU swarmed it bc there was no ticket demand on the other side. Given the magnitude of the game, Oregon turnout was pathetic. Thats just a fact.

Well, that's the argument. Who decides the 12 best teams? You don't think division winners should have an in? Just not that simple!!!

I prefer a 16 team playoffs, teams like ND and Texas were good enough and hot enough to beat some higher seeded teams.

My goodness man you are the absolute king of 10-year-old takes.

4 Big 12 teams gave up less than 20 PPG.

5 SEC
2 ACC
6 Big 10
The Big 12 has the least amount of defensive talent among the Big 4 and thats just a cold hard fact.

You can lose the personal attacks. As you should be able to realize by now, I don't care.

Miami's three games
10-3
24-14
31-27

22-15 Which means they have won but an average of 7 points

Indiana's two games

38-3
56-22

47-13 Which means they have won by an average of 34 points.

That is pretty amazing by Indiana IMO.

Indiana is dominating the CFP
clearly the best TEAM if not the most talented one

Very impressive

Going to go out on a limb and say they won't win the next game like that

A VERY recent common opponent is Ohio St
In their last 2 games, they played these two teams.

Miami beat them by 10
Indiana beat them by 3

frankly the difference is negligible. Just trying to find something to crow about
Indiana has DOMINATED. Miami has not

Stop it man. Just stop it.
The games you mentioned that were blow outs included top seeds getting gassed.
There is no way to avoid that.
And rankings are not at all reflective of final results.
In fact, let's be clear the rankings absolutely suck.
It is VERY likely if Virginia had won the ACCCG over Duke they take JMU's spot and Notre Dame takes now Finalist Miami's.

Anyone wanting to shut out the G6 is simply a terrible person that doesn't actually care about college athletics. Anyone wanting to trust rankings isn't paying attention.

It should be 16 teams, no byes (Bye teams 1-7 with many bad losses). 5 highest-rated conf champs plus 11 at large.
The exact proposal that has been on the table for a year now but of course the P2 can't agree.

You've told us you are casual fan, and these ESPN takes just cement that.

The finalists with 12 team playoffs have been 1 vs 10 and 7 vs 8.
