Even if we have interest, someone above us in the pecking order will claim him on waivers for a looksee.

Why does the NFL reward teams for sucking so hard?

So basically to get him, the entire league has to pass?

He never really got the chance to play considering Randy Moss, Danny Amendola SR., and Stallworth were ahead of him.

:lmao:

you're right though, of course

Jackson would be the first, no-strings attached, free agent wide receiver who I would like Jerry Jones to target.

No strings attached, got cut from one of the best WR corps' in the league. Has speed size and should have upside. Former first day pick lost out to another former first day pick. I'd take him over Stanback right now, just needs to get in touch with the offense. Unfortunately he hasn't shown much in NE, then again how much attention did he get to progress. If Ray Sherman likes him I like him alot for nothing.

The Patriots are a team thats not affraid to cut their losses if they dont see anything there.

Thats what worries me.

Stallworth isn't there anymore either.

Its Moss, Welker, and ??????

Im sure if he could play they would of loved to have had him and I trust that teams scouting department.

Theyre not the end all be all

They lucked into Brady. Welker was a gift from Saban, Moss forced his way out of Oakland.

They somehow let Vinateri go

Who knows about Merriweather. Their line isnt looking great all of the sudden. Their secondary isnt looking great either.

The Pats don't operate the normal way.

Their talent evaluators are great. They know what type of player they want in their system and continuously get that kind of player.

They may have "lucked" into Brady but they still drafted him.

Welker and Moss found their way to New England but New England was winning long before those 2 got there.

The Patriots front office is one of the best in football and they just cut a guy at a position that they arent so incredibly deep at that they would let a 1st round pick walk out the door unless he couldn't play.

In all seriousness, you have to consider the cheating they did....

Jacson was a 2nd round pick, had a decent grade by a lot of teams, it was a weak WR draft however. But I wouldnt worry about NE, trust your own scouts. We drafted pretty well ourselves. MB3 in round 4, Witten in the 3rd, Romo undrafted, Crayton 6th or 7th, Gurode, Newman, Ware ect.

a younger version of Marc Colombo?

I wouldn't be suprised that the 1st team that goes after him is the Commanders

Marc Colombo is a linemen, Jackson is a receiver.....

Preachin to the choir.

I do trust our own scouts. Over the last 5 years they have built one of the most talented teams in the league.

And the Patriots spygate scandle has basically nothing to do with their talent evaluators.

If we bring him in then im all for it because I do trust our scouts. I just doubt we will or any other team who is a legit contender will.

He didn't mean it like that....He meant it is a young play that had set back with injuries that Dallas gave a shot and lived up to draft potential

Thats a position the Patriots are usually pretty deep at.

It could have just been a numbers issue I really dont know.

Nobody is expecting big things from Rogers either.

Chad Jackson is a 1st round pick who they are already giving up on at a position on their team with not a lot of depth.

Jabar Gaffney caught like 10 TDs for them last year, he's #3 on the chart

they're only keeping 4 WRs, so it could have been a numbers crunch elsewhere

cutting Jackson could mean that he's not progressed enough to risk keeping him on the team if he isn't going to contribute elsewhere, and when they have to carry more players elsewhere

It "could" be. But I doubt it is.

They would be moronic to give up on a guy like that for those reasons and under the circumstances they required him under.

--------

Looks like the Patriots cut Lynch too.

It was a numbers crunch thing. He couldn't beat out Gaffney for the number 3 and he lost the punt return job also. Draft status doesn't matter to the Pat's produce or get out of town.

I would be very pleased if we could somehow land Jackson. In the few Patriot games where I have seen Jackson play, he did show flashes of potential. He just happened to be the odd man out in NE.

Here is the draft profile for Chad Jackson from SI.com

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/2006/draft/players/5609.html

chad_jackson.jpg

Chad Jackson Grade: 4.34 Position: WR
Class: Jr
School: Florida
Conference: Southeastern
Ht., Wt.: 6-1, 213
40 Time: 4.35
Selected by: New England Patriots
Round 2, pick 4 (36 overall)

BIO: Moved into a full-time starting position last season, producing career-best numbers of 88/900/9 and winning All-Conference honors. Started three games as a sophomore, posting 29/648/6.

POSITIVES: Athletic receiver slowly developing a complete game. Uses his frame to shield away opponents, adjusts to the errant throw and extends to make the reception away from his frame. Sturdy receiver who gets airborne and pulls the pass from a crowd or takes a pounding then holds onto the ball. Has the speed to beat defenders down the sidelines.

NEGATIVES: Must improve his route-running skills. Gets marginal results blocking.

ANALYSIS: A terrific prospect with an ever-improving game, Jackson showed signs of dominance as a junior then went on to have an outstanding combine. Moved himself into the first 30 selections and could develop into a No. 1 receiver at the next level.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whoever said that the 2006 WR draft class was weak was right. Turns out that Marquis Colston (7th round) and Brandon Marshall (4th round) were the class of that draft. Santonio Holmes (1st round) is doing well for himself and I believe Austin will cement himself as a star by the end of the season.
anyway, back to Jackson, it appears he is just a slow learner. I believe he has the talent to be a star down the line, but he just needs time. I hope he clears waivers and signs with the Cowboys.

IMO, the spygate scandle DID make their talent evaluators look better...the cheating helped the team win more games, therefore making the players look better than what are, therefore making the scouting department look better.

Yes, I know they went 16-0, blah, blah, blah last season. But this was after having their roster stacked. The spygate thing helped them more in their early years of the so-called dynasty.

Im just sayin...
