I certainly like what I see thus far but it's way too early to tell for sure. There are many examples of QBs who have had a good few games but fell off along the way. Even a good seasons worth. I do like him and I suspect that he might indeed be our long term solution. Having said that, I'd not blame anybody for having a goodly amount of discretion on this point. Wait and see generally proves to be the best course of action in most things.

I didn't think he'd fail miserably. But he has played above my expectations.

having said that, Drew has played way below my expectations.

Here's his facts...

He's "a scout... not professionally... but he's a scout." And it's obvious to anyone who has more than an elementary knowledge of football that Romo has flaws in his mechanics.

What are those flaws you may be asking?? We don't know... he won't tell us.

What's weird is...how can a Bledsoe lover like himself ever have the gall to say ANYTHING about another QB's mechanics?!

By the way - I never made any predictions of Romo this year. I saw him his second year and thought he was awful. Kudos to the coaches for seeing something I never did.

That being said - I never stated whether he would be good or bad this year. I did, however, openly state that I didn't want to watch Bledsoe any longer - that he was killing us.

I am pleasantly surprised by Romo. His technique (footwork and vision, to name a few) is impeccable and he is doing things I haven't seen here in a long time.

I'll say this - for the first time in about 8 years, maybe longer, I'm not worried when I see us lining up to pass the ball. I don't get the flurries anymore, worried about an INT or stupid throw when other guys are open.

That's a nice feeling.

I'm just curious, is there anyone out there who still thinks Romo can't succeed.

Mind you, I'm not saying he will have a brilliant future, of course 2 starts doesn't tell the whole story.

But I'm not talking about there being any certainty that he will have a great future, just that he has proven enough that to show he can have that kind of future - that he can be a quality QB in the NFL.

IN OTHER WORDS, THIS THREAD IS DIRECTED TO THOSE WHO HAD CLAIMED THAT THERE WAS NO WAY IN HELL ROMO COULD SUCCEED.

Have you changed your mind and are willing to say it's possible?

Look at the records of the teams he has played well against. Look at the vehicle he is driving, quality rb's,wr's,decent, if not great offensive line. There are a lot qb's he could look great for a couple of games with the talent we have. If you're willing to settle for Hassellbeck-lite or Bulger-lite, he's you're man, but If you aspire to greatness, he's not.

Great offensive line? BAWAHAHAHA.

If only we had Carter. I think we'd be undefeated.

Said the man who loves a guy with a career 71.6 QB rating.

This offensive line is not close to being great. It is average. That is all.

Romo may not be the answer. It is way too early to tell, but your agenda stinks up the joint.

Yeah look at those teams, some pretty tough defenses throwing everything, including the kitchen sink at him. We have lost no games because of him and could have won all three he was in.

I'm not sure he is the next great QB, but he IS the best we have seen since Troy. I'll give him until next season.

Romo is going to have a better career (he already has a job) then the "great" Crankcase ever will!

And, I really doubt that Romo is hitting the hippie lettuce...like Q-bong...

Taking failed Baseball prospects and trotting them out in Texas Stadium is not what I consider a "reasonable gamble".

And Hutch was the worst candidate of all of them, he just plain sucked.

And I do find it funny that you think Hutch/Henson were reasonable games but Carter wasn't. All of them had a big "BAG" of nothing and sucked for their own particular sucky reasons. The only guy I thought could have been a servicable backup, is Carter if he could have kept his nose clean (no pun intended) and wasn't so freakin paranoid of the boogie...err Vinny.

- Mike G.

Both were highly rated college QB's and neither cost us much, so why were they a bad gamble AS LONG AS we were viewing them as a project and not counting on them or holding up plans for them?

It's kind of mindless to talk about how bad a move Hutchinson was because he sucked when you have the benefit of hindsight.

Do you watch NFL games and then make your predictions after they are over?

As for Carter, I never said he wasn't worth a gamble, you put those words in my mouth. Frankly I think he would have been a reasonable gamble in the 5th round, but virtually every team was shocked when we took him when we did. Besides, he was NEVER considered as strong a college QB as either Hutchinson or Henson, he only really played one full year of college - which would be fine if it was his senior year after learning for 3 years, but it was his sophomore year and he was hurt his junior year. In other words, all he ever showed in college was some potential for growth, but not the kind of proven production that would translate into a high possiblity of NFL success - Huthinson and Henson did do that.

Now, remember, if you will, that Roger Staubach and Chad Hennings both had to wait 4 years to play because of military commitments and they worked out well. They are proof that being away from the game for several years doesn't mean a player can't succeed.

So why not take a chance on a highly rated college propsect who has been away for a few years, AS LONG AS it doesn't cost too much and you view him as a prospect rather than someone you count on?
