Chargers to interview Mike Zimmer

I am surprised to hear that Atlanta would give permission for a coach that they just acquired to leave.

I don't thing this move will make Zimmer any friends in Atlanta. Since he is interviewing for a HC job, they can't stop him.

Maybe they finally got a look at his playbook????

Out of morbid curiosity, what evidence is there that Wade has less authority than Bill Parcells? I have yet to see that beyond some opinions on the forum. Certainly not from anything happening at Valley Ranch. I'll hang up and listen on the radio.

people hate jerry jones. i've been in deep discussions where the hatred just made the poster "make stuff up" and when called upon it - they either faded or avoied teh questions and went on a hate-rampage all over again.

hate makes people see what they want to see and believe the worst because it furthers the validity of the "hate".

It would be very interesting though to see how the 2 former DCs do as HC of the other's former team. That's a bit confusing but you know what I mean.

No I like it that we just suck period. Ofcourse I want us to win the whole enchilada, but it would be nice if we could contend. Just like Roger Staubach said this would be the only decade in team history that we didn't win a playoff game, thus contend.

I hope the Chargers do hire Zimmer. Then all the Zimmer lovers around here will see first hand how he can destroy a team. I don't think he will get hired but it sure would be interesting to watch.

i think we *all* want us to contend - that's not the issue.

i agree, 10 years of no wins in the playoffs is pretty bad. it also speaks volumes to jones he can hire parcells, give him full control, and still not even get a playoff win.

all this side-collateral is pointless when the focus of the discussion is - is jerry meddling?

if what he does ALL owners do - no. he's doing standard business practices.

VACowboy running around saying he's hired a majority of the coaching staff is a flat lie when he only *hired* 1 person and retained 2. not even 1/4th of the staff much less a majority.

are you saying you don't see those "lies" in all this discussion also?

jones should be considered meddling when he goes OUTSIDE normal owner actions and he's not really done that yet that i can see. you can't dismiss 30+ owners (well, VA can) because you want to prove something wrong with ONE.

Wade has a Winning record as a head coach ...... and did much better than Parcells did with Dallas.

To compare Wade Phillips with Dave Campo is an insult to his experience and record. Wade has been fired from jobs before because he would not yield to the Gm's demands ...... to say he will be Jerry's puppet is very stupid.

We should know more after Free Agency and 2007 NFL Draft.

Right off the top of my head:

1) Hiring Garrett before Wade was announced as HC.

2) Wade getting a lowball offer.

3) Jerry hiring Dat.

4) Sparano expressing some discomfort in being "demoted". Parcells would have never allowed that to become public.

5) Well, I KNOW I had another one there a minute ago, I'll get back to you.

None of those is PROOF.

Individually, you can say each one is a little bit of evidence.

As a group, you can say it is a good bit of evidence that Wade has less authority than Parcells. Hmm, so Jerry does the most thorough Head Coaching search of the off season and this means he's hiring another Campo/Gailey/Switzer puppet coach?

Interesting to me that names we passed over are names that the Chargers are now bringing up. Even more interesting is the admission that Wade would be the Chargers Head Coach if Marty had been fired sooner.

So where is the evidence that Jerry is screwing everything up?

Where is the evidence Wade has less authority than Bill?

Where is the evidence that Jerry again has a puppet?



I don't know folks, maybe, just maybe Jerry has earned a benefit of a doubt. Before our coaching staff has even been fully assembled people are fitting Wade's butt for Jerry's hand.

Premature evaluation strikes again.



Note for the reading comprehension impaired, I am not saying Jerry is the best GM in the whole world. Try and keep it to the evidence at hand and not the extremes of reach that you love so much. I don't need a reminder of the 500 coaches comment. That is long since moot and irrelevant.
