Chuckle... except there's nothing "logical" about it... just because Jerry might have been a putz when his relationship with Jimmy blew up (and BOTH men are to blame for that, not just Jerry), it doesn't logically follow that AJ Smith is not a putz now, for running Schottenheimer our of San Diego...

Of course he's a putz, but there are different levels/degrees of putzitude. AJ has a ways to go before catching up with Jerrah, who ran off an elite coach--not some choking dog like Schott.

It's the same thing if you don't afford these 'haters' the same couple of years you used to express your hate. In the end if they don't own up to it, it would be different....but surely you can see the precedent you, and others, have set.....You took 2-3 years...expecting these people to get over and on with it in 2-3 weeks is asking a bit much.

lesse - i didn't "hate" parcells until almost 2 years into his reign. i had 2-3 specific reasons for my hate and even during that time i still gave him credit where it was due (not a backhanded compliment like vA does jones either).

when he left i was also one of the ones saying i didn't feel his tenure here was a failure. we did get better, he did give us a better foundation, i just didnt' feel he could get us over the top with his "do i have the desire" dramafests anymore.

now these people who hate jones - they're citing events from 10+ years ago for their hate. isn't that a little past the 2 years i hated parcells? (not 2-3 years, 2 years and 4 games, tops and it took all 4 games being wasted away before my hate-on was in full bloom, so 2 years and a game).

it's not the "hate" i take issue with it's the blindness it causes. VA doesn't even follow common logic in his hate and in my own, i would still try to.

for example - VA says jones is a meddling owner cause he kept (2) staff members before hiring phillips.

this would be ok *if* it were an uncommon experience. however, it's very common and all owners/gms do just such a thing.

when presented with this, it's now "but jones forced these on wade and didn't let wade make the decision"!

how does he know this? he doesn't but he allows speculation for his benefit, not for others.

I think Parcells really changed when his Brother died ...... I think that killed what was left of his fire and passion for being a coach.

The only real mistake I felt he made up until then was playing Vinnie for the end of the season a few years ago ..... I think that was mere stubborness on his part and showed a real lack of foresight.

oddly enough that's my focal point for my own hate. i'll let it go now but i'm betting the jones haters will bleet on and continue to hold jones to an unwinnable set of rules they won't hold any other owner/gm to.

that's hypocracy to me.
