Charles Tapper

Alot of people here seem to think he is on very thin ice as far as his roster spot goes.

I'd like to hear Zoners thoughts in this
He's had a slow start. Unrxspected Back injury last year and some minor injuries this year. They think his ceiling is high. Will no more by the end of this year. As far as "thin ice" can't see it. Bottom 3rd on the roster yes-for now

Ease up on my man Nate; he was just talking about a particular skill set. We will see if he can start putting it all together.

Neal also outplayed Tapper. So did Lenny Jones.

In preseason games, yes Neal and Jones outplayed Tapper. But, I wouldn't put too much stock into that data. I think the raters focused more on what they saw in practice and potential upside. Jones and Neal need about 6-8 weeks on the practice squad and they might be ready to challenge Tapper for a spot.

Tapper will need to show something these first two games because Demontre Moore will need a spot two weeks from now and Irving 4 weeks from now. Tapper needs to show something and make it quick.

The zone is always hypercritical. There is a penchant for cutting any player that is not a pro-bowl player instantly. I remember the tar and feather crowd was ready to get rid of most of our players at one time or another.

here is the list
Mayowa
charlton
Lawrence
Moore
Crawford
Tapper
Irvin

which 5? or 6? its a numbers game....

They normally carry 10 or 11 DL. They only have 3 true DTs with Crawford and Irving being DE/DT types.

In other words even with the new guy Elliott, that's 11 total.

Including Zeke after two games last year! It's a twitter world.

Neal played almost exclusively inside though, as a 3T. Tapper is a DE, now if Neal was making those plays on the edge, I think you'd have an argument, but we're talking different positions.

Neal had a sack from the LDE position, remind me again how many Tapper had in more reps at DE?

There is nothing beyond potential and conjecture at this point. He has a month to make an impression. We'll see.

He's essentially a rookie, so I don't think he's on super thin ice.

I also think a lot of fans are just realizing their expectations of him were way too high.
lol it is not his fault, we are so desperate for a DE that we are blaming him, although he has never been on the field.
