Broaddus disagrees. He usually doesn't say stuff like this:

  • Bottom line: this is a veteran zone corner that doesn't wow you with his speed. He is not going to make many mental or physical mistakes. Bridge player to get the young guys ready.
We will see. I don't see this organization giving up a late rounder for a short rental.

They just seemed to figure out that stockpiling picks was a good thing.

Alot of people here seem to think he is on very thin ice as far as his roster spot goes.

I'd like to hear Zoners thoughts in this

I knew he was going to make the roster all along. Part of it is that he's a former 3rd rounder from 2016. But he does show some real ability. It's not easy to get sacks in the preseason because preseason football the edge rushers are mostly working on technique and teams are extra careful in protecting their QB's.

Y'know who had a ton of preseason sacks?

Michael Sam.

Y'know who also had a ton of preseason sacks?

Coltson Weatherington.

Try to draw a correlation between preseason and regular season is an exercise in futility unless you're talking about a kicker and *maybe* the running game since the plays in preseason and regular season are so similar.

In preseason games, yes Neal and Jones outplayed Tapper. But, I wouldn't put too much stock into that data. I think the raters focused more on what they saw in practice and potential upside. Jones and Neal need about 6-8 weeks on the practice squad and they might be ready to challenge Tapper for a spot.

Tapper will need to show something these first two games because Demontre Moore will need a spot two weeks from now and Irving 4 weeks from now. Tapper needs to show something and make it quick.

I think he showed something and made it quick.

He played well against a below average oline.

However, I still have high hopes for Tapper. I like his speed and he is only going to improve.

The 2016 draft class just keeps looking better and better. I hope he can keep it up against better competition. That o-line is awful.

I didn't focus on Tapper throughout the game, but he showed great burst on the play he got the sack. His speed was evident on that play.
Im interested in seeing how they had him aligned. He is a guy to me who could dona ton of damage on the strong side in wide 9 gap as a pass rusher. I know his sack came from the strong, but didnt notice what gap he was in
