This move makes too much sense, but the Cowboys are in love with Matt Johnson for whatever reason. I'd give Woodson a 1 year deal worth 4 mil. We would have a Pro Bowl vet back there with great instincts..

Doesn't matter what they are waiting on, all we have at safety is a bunch of small school projects, Will 'havent had an INT in 8 years' Allen, and Barry 'my next INT will be my first' Church coming off a horrible injury for a DB.

What we are hoping for is a miracle. Say what you will about the OL situation, but at least we have real talent in Tyron and Frederick there now, thats just not true at all with the safety position with only a few projects for the dreamers out there.

Its disgusting really, and I sincerely hope for the miracle that the FO is apparently banking on to happen.

Fine? Doubtful. We are pinning our hopes on a 5th round pick who was barely able to practice, a guy who has started a handful of games, and a career backup.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the vet min for 10+ year players is like 950k.

Allen will readily accept a backup role, whereas a player with the type of career Woodson has had may struggle with it.

I'm laughing at the idea that we can't find a roster spot for Charles Woodson. Danny McCray, Will Allen and Sterling Moore are all extremely expendable. Not saying we should and I'm about 95% sure we won't sign Woodson, but we certainly have the roster spot for him if we did some how get him.

No man, I read on here Will Allen is perfectly fine. Who cares that we don't have a player with any championship pedigree on this roster. Smh this is the type of garbage I'm sick of. Woodson is probably smart enough to know that he will be lucky to see the field this year, or more accurately, be signed before the start of the season - I think that his willingness to play for anyone supports that. If he played well here in a substitute role, it would be hard to not see him getting significant merit-based snaps. I'd imagine that we have one of the more unsettled safety situations in the league going into camp.

woodson would bring something that the Dallas defense has lacked for a long time. the ability to get turnovers.

Old and we probably think he hampers development but could be a good instructor to young guys. Just don't think he has much game left.

I think he is an exception to the rule, meaning he has plenty of game despite his age...at least a year or two left in some relevant role.

Woodson on a 1 year deal I would have no issue with it. Last season he was out with broken collar bone so last season was a wasted season for him yet 2011 he played 15 games and was very active with 7 ints on the season.

I'm mostly in agreement. I wouldn't mind Woodson being brought in for the vet minimum to where we could cut him if all the young guys work out, but I don't want to guarantee him a roster spot with all those young guys to look at.

If guys prove unworthy, Woodson might be a nice option to have.

This. We have seen Allen and McCray and they are definitely not starters. Oh yea our current (penciled in) starters (Church and Johnson) are unproven too and have issues staying healthy. I get it to give the younger guys a shot but it seems a healthy Woodson could compete with anyone we have right now and he's certainly much more mentally capable than what we have at the S spot so far on paper.
Once TC starts and a few Saftey's go down to injury Woodson will get snapped up quickly.
