i was rewatching the game this morning since I do not have to work today and was watching all of charltons snaps. the guy gets no push whatsoever. I just wonder what was the scouting department thinking when they drafted him. Armstrong needs to be active in playoffs instead of Charlton. the guy cannot stop the run or even get close to qb. I guess you cannot hit every first round pick.
Plus I hear Taco is a bit spoiled and Marinelli wants to see him hustle like the other guys before he gets more rep's.
Charlton is a fine example of drafting for need and not BPA. I would not say he is a bust now. I'll give him one more year.
I've read they were looking at his potential. They saw his size and arm length.......speed. What they don't have is a measure for grit and heart. Taco lacks both and will never develop to his potential b/c he's got no real motivation or determination.
Jaylon Smith should be ashamed of himself for following through with that idiotic celebration.
Their measurement for grit and heart - RKG. From his draft profiles, he didn't have it. But they took him anyway.
We've hit on a lot of 1st round picks since 2010. We've whiffed on others. The whiffs had attitude issues.
I looked at his combine photo. The looking down his nose look. No smile. So I checked his team photo. Even worse attitude. More tilt. Side eye. This is how he chooses to present himself to the world.
Compare to the rest of the team. Smiles. Often not, but then it's more of a "here's my face". Taco's got the "I'm looking at you, and I don't like what I see".

The same was said of tank.

I think it’s a bit early to label Taco a wasted pick. Only year two and some guys take a little longer to develop than others.

Taco has one season to get serious. I felt he was over drafted for need but his problem doesn’t appear to be just talentYeah, while it is too early to call him a complete bust, it isn't too early to declare he was over drafted.
imo, a first round pick should be an immediate starter and contributor. to date, taco has been a disappointment, but too early to consider him a bust. I've seen the flashes of good play. he needs consistency and a better attitude. peer pressure is the best way to deal with it.Taco hasn't flashed like Tank did. Tanks main issue was health.
But yes there is some correlation. Taco was a first round pick. Spare me the drivel that he wasn't top 15. A first round pick should be doing more than Taco is.
I remember that their argument for taking him over Watt was that Taco could contribute immediately. Oops.
Hard to compete in the NFL when your premium pick rookies don't mature until the end of their rookie contracts. He's wasted 2 years of everyone's time so far and , worse, we could have drafted a better player.
