Leary finishes better than what we saw Sunday night. But Green was good enough that I think it's not a ludicrous conversation - other than the whole it was only one game aspect.

Green was terrific. Definitey better getting to the 2nd level and pulling than Leary.

Even more ironic is that Leary is out injured.

It doesn't take much to be better then Leary at getting to the 2nd level but I felt like Leary was the best on our team at moving a guy that's lined up over him.

True but overall when you add up Green taking over for Leary and Collins taking over for Free I think this OL will be much improved. Green play was still very good and Collins given he was going up against JJP was outstanding

I hesitate to say he's better. My belief is he has the ability to be better because of superior movement skills. Leary spent several years at guard and was very good at it last year. I think it will take some time for Green to play consistently the way Leary did last year, but his ceiling is higher IMO if he can stay healthy.

I can get on board with that.

If Green is the guy, we are going to draft his replacement in the third round this year and start him in 2019.
You'll have to draft an O Linemen anyway. If Chaz can stay healthy somebody will pay him tackle money and he'll be gone regardless. Is what it is.

The question is not whether Green is better than Leary or not.

The question is: Are the Cowboys better?

By moving Green to the guard position and using the money they would have paid to keep Leary in a more productive way...... like to re-sign Martin.... are the Cowboys better?

Oh Collins will only get better.

I wasn't and still not completely sure about Green at LG.

I think it's odd that they didn't just leave Collins and Green in their original positions. IMO they are both tackles.

I think they just want Collins to play RT for monetary reasons and they feel like they can find guards easier.

You're going to have to do that with that LG slot regardless. With 4 big contracts, you can only afford to pay that guy rookie scale. Best thing to do would be to draft a day 2 guy, develope him for a year and have start him for 3 years on a super cheap deal. Rinse and repeat

Im one of the few people that thinks Green may be a better OT then Collins. His play at LT last year was very impressive.

But even if he is better, its very close and Greens availability issues makes it much more difficult to start him at RT the LG. If/when he goes down at LG we just plug in Cooper. Of he was to go down at RT, we would have to reshuffle the line, move Collins over and insert Cooper. Replacing two starters on the OL is not something you want to do during the season

Green will have to continue to play hard and get the job done after all Dallas has Cooper waiting in the wings if needed

It is just a bonus if Green is better than Leary. We had to let Leary go for the future $ of the team. That is why you continue to draft. For Jerry, it just saves him money. You have to continue to recycle the roster with draft picks and let the older ones go and keep your most valued! That said , I don't know if Green will be a long term fixture here. His rookie deal is going to end in 2018 and he will want big dollars and he will be the guy we decide not to pay IMO

Green is smart, athletic and strong....he has every trait you want, if only he could string more than two games together.

he was back up tackle for left/and right side. so he has better movement and more athletic but he is injury prone, so I wonder how long he will last before getting injured.

It's only one game, but Green did look good on several plays. I guess I only worry about his health- seems banged up often.
