Eventually even a good coach's message gets stale. It was time for him to go.
Living off of past glories is one way to become complacent. I prefer a sense of urgency rooted in the present.
One of the better coaches in he league.
I loved that they replaced him with Chip. Kind of wish he was still the GM/coach for them.
True. Maybe it was the players because I think he is doing pretty well for KC, no?
But yeah, Eagles got it all figured out.
Possibly but Bill Cower would have been gone if not for some patience.
The point still stands that his "urgency" has won them all of 0 trophies.
Kelly won 10 games in his first year after Reid was fired with Reid players.
Reid has become stale his last few years in Philly. He's been OK in KC........... good first year but crapped out in the AFC Wildcard game, fell apart in the 2014 season losing like 5 out of their last 6 games to miss the playoffs, doing well this year.
Higher standards means winning playoffs games not necessarily the SB
Patience? Reid coached 14 seasons in Philadelphia. That's an eternity these days.
Cowher coached 15 seasons.
I really can't help but LOL at the posters in here lauding Lurie for being a "real" owner, who "demands results" and "has standards". They're one of the most pitiful franchises EVER, and still have zero trophies even under his all-of-the-sudden superior guidance. Please.
Not everything has to be about Garrett and/or Jerry and why you think one or both should be fired.
So please don't try to make this, about that.
Unfortunately right now we're more pitiful than that pitiful franchise
Or in Lurie's case, history keeps repeating itself. Hire coach. Lose. Fire coach. Hire coach. Lose. Fire coach. Rinse and repeat.
Or in our case, hire yes man, fire yes man, rinse and repeat
Reid never demanded control like Chip, which is probably gotten him in trouble. Signing Murray, letting go of DJAX, Maclin and Shady were gafs.
