I think many people have their own illusions of how the Cowboys are ran and Parcells seems to think many of those views are untrue. Jerry is not telling the coaches what to run, who to play he expect the coaches to go out and do their jobs. He does understand more than people give him credit for and as a former player I think he understands the importance of the authority of the HC. There is a business end of professional sports and yes Jerry is involved but even that tend to be based on information by those he has hired. So you can argue your point all you would like but fact is it is an outside view that does not seem to be shared with those who have actually worked for Jerry and the Cowboys.
I'm not a Jerry apologist. Quite the opposite. But the biggest problems that Jerry has ever represented have more to do with
1. Information - Who is the face of the football team and speaks for it?
2. Atmosphere - Does he inadvertently undermine his head coach by his love to be in the middle of everything?
And I see #1 and #2 as connected on many occasions.
The people who think that he oversees play calling, and that sort of thing are delusional.
The problem I have the with delusional folks is that they are notoriously selective.
"Jerry DEMOTED Garrett and chose Callahan."
Hmmmm, well who DEMOTED Callahan toward the end of last year when Garrett took play calling back?
Who was in charge of getting Linehan on board? (Everyone acknowledges he was Garrett's choice).
Who made clear to Linehan that the run game would be the priority? (That was Garrett, unless you want to say that Linehan is a liar)
For their theories to fly they have to pick and choose what the want to remember, report and believe.
Sorry, it just doesn't work.
And on top of it, while they argue away, we are 7-3 and headed for two huge divisional matchups. Kind of sad for those folks don't you think? I do. I kind of pity them.
