Chopping block

Oh yeah. That's why I initially said not to get his hopes up. Guaranteed money and blown cap costs will save Smith for this year.
Sorry, I didn't catch the context. I'm still clinging to some hope that Smith can be effective if limited to an OLB role. He's a disaster in the middle - just not the degree of toughness (mental or physical) to take on blockers and stuff the run head to head. He's a pursuer, not a hard nosed interior LB.

I’m not rooting for him or anyone else to fail, but I don’t like anything I’m seeing lately.

In the right system, Brussel Sprouts can be AWESOME and far better than your average steamed Broccoli.
Brussel sprouts only taste like the seasoning that goes on them. Other than that, they are useless. Same could be said for cardboard if you have the right cook.

I don't get the idea behind cutting Jaylon. We would take a big cap hit by cutting him, and even if he isn't the player we thought he would be, he is still good enough to be on the roster.
He is the whipping boy. When a player gets that title they never look at decent plays that player makes but instead only exaggerates everything bad. Meanwhile they give other players a pass who aren't as good. Insanity

Smith’s contract has a clause that if he’s on the club’s roster on the fifth day of the 2021 league year, his base salary of $7.2 million is guaranteed.

Basically if they released him after that date, he could sign with anyone for league minimum (around $1 million) & Jerry would have to pay him the remaining $6.2 million.

Sounds familiar huh Jeffrey Lurie?! :muttley:

Jaylon is useless on this roster, but Brown isn't going anywhere.

It is nice to fresh depth at both positions now.
Jaylon is not useless. He is a good rusher up the middle. Just put him on the sideline when we are in the nickel because he can't cover anyone.

It's funny how Brown has been the starter since training camp, is listed as the starter on the depth chart. But everyone believes he will be cut.

Brown has the versatility to play outside or the slot. At the very least he would be great insurance against injury to the position.

Like I said before, think like the team and not like a fan.

I never thought he was getting cut. He's relatively cheap. Cutting him now would save almost nothing. And I agree with you. Cutting him after this season is a much higher possibility.

But what if I can't wait that long???
We can design a daily activity plan for you to help pass the time. How does this sound?

Trade if anyone is crazy enough to apply.

Time to make room.
Don’t get the Anthony Brown hate. He would be scooped up instantly if we cut him.

Similarly on Jaylon. Whenever we've used three-linebacker sets, he's been out there.

Sorry to be mean, but anybody that wants to dump CB Brown has not reviewed games or paid close attention over the years.

At the very minimum he has been a better Nickel (slot) CB over the years than Lewis. I know Lewis is fan favorite and I think this defense will bring out the best in Lewis, but Brown has been the better player over the years.

It's true that Brown is less proven on the outside but when he as played there during the Marinelli era he was solid.

Nobody is going to trade for Jaylon unless they Cowboys give them a premium draft pick to take on his contract.
- I did like the idea that somebody posted to swap big contracts for a player like QB Foles.

As much as #9 is discussed on this board everyone should know he's not getting cut. AB is interesting tho because it go either way. It's just good these guys could end up being depth players with all the experience they have...good sign for team building.

The #9 and #6 together on the field drives me crazy when studying the game footage. I don't normally have dyslexia but that combination seems to cause induced dyslexia for me.
