Frankly, I'm not sold at all on Bosa and I think he could eventually be a bust at the #4 pick. I do think that is the way the FO is thinking
and that need is going to override BPA in this draft because the DE class is sparse at best especially at the top. I actually like Buckner better than Bosa but I think they view him as more of a 3x4 player. Ramsey is most ready to deliver as a defensive player though I think that Weddle has forced
SD to look really hard at taking him.

I don't know if we're wedged into taking Bosa. I think he could be considered the BPA when we get to our pick, depending on if the team's rankings are similar to most of those out there.

For all we know, though, Dallas could have Buckner higher and take him, or even Elliot or a QB, but my inclination based on what we've done compared to what we need (and based on most draft rankings) is that it will be Bosa.

Now, I don't think Bosa will be a bust. He might not end up being a high sack guy, but I think he'll get sacks and be a sold all-around player at the very least. That doesn't mean I'm advocating taking him over Ramsey or one of the QBs or Elliot. I just hope Dallas' scouting department comes through and this team makes its choice based on who will be most impactful. We need to get a stud with that No. 4 pick, and if the team believes Bosa can be that stud, I'm OK with that.

If players we "pass" on turn out to be much better, then the front office needs to hold someone accountable for missing on the player (unless the reason for the failure is injuries because that's impossible to predict).

Bosa, while not being the pretty girlfriend that people are looking for - I would think will not be the huge letdown people are predicting. I get the narrative of we hope to not be drafting this high again and we need to take a QB. If we do take one of the Goff or Wentz I would be OK with that. Hopefully McClay's influence led them to that decision. Think whoever they take at # 4 will have been discussed add nauseam.
If, it is Bosa - yes he will be the strong side DE, which is not a bad thing. Think about this, it would move DLaw back over to WDE with Gregory. A rotation would be a good thing once he (Gregory) comes off his suspension, and after all, we gave up 2 draft spots for DLaw (2nd and 3rd rounder's) cause he was the last remaining WDE !
So put him back where we gave up all the resources for him to be .... not a bad problem to have then with our DE's now set for years to come.

What an interesting trade. Jones in the last year of his contract. They get Cooper and a 2nd for him. Then sign Long(probably). Geez!

I looked at some of his games and his work at the combine closely. He just looked a bit clumsy to me and not that fluid.
He may be strong as an ox but, he just looks like a bull rusher who might get shut down once these big tackles get their
hands on him.

Long is a better fit for NE than Dallas anyway.

They must have been scared off from Jones due to the synthetic marijuana issue. He's a very good player, and getting a second and a to-this-point-bust in Jonathan Cooper is not a great trade on paper.

Assuming Lawrence is healthy, you flip him over to WDE, Long starts at SDE. Doesn't really address the lack of pass rush, but Long would provide a solid presence which is needed. The issue is I'm sure the Boys don't want to pay him more than 4-4.5 mil per for 2 years. That's my guess, so we will see...

Still would address DL with 1 of the first 2 picks.

It'd take a DeLorean for Long to beat out either end on their roster now.

Possibly but I'm talking about a rotation piece. That they planned on adding depth with Long after trading Jones.

Nobody knows what they're getting with Long.
