This kid is a tremendous, tremendous athlete. He doesn’t play hard all the time. That’s our job to make sure that he does that. But he is a tremendous athlete. Like I told the guys up in the draft room, when we talk about this kid and you watch him on tape, there are some plays that you say ‘Oh wow, I can’t believe he did that.’ Then some of the other plays, you say, ‘Oh heck, he didn’t do very good there.’ But he does have a little bit of a wow factor in some of his measurables and some of his plays on tape. He just doesn’t have it enough. Hopefully by the end of the rookie minicamp, we’ll have that straightened out.”

This is the man who we had in charge of our defense for years. Chilling. I still remember his sterling projection about other players getting their "swagger back".

And to think, some Bengals fans are actually dancing in the streets thinking he's the reason they had a "great" draft. They took some names, but did not get a lot of players that are consistent or motivated.

Funny, since that is pretty much what people say about Julius Peppers (and some said when he was coming out of UNC), and some on here are willing to give their first born to get him in Dallas.

I did not appreciate that comment. I would say about seven players should be completely content, not 22.

That's how I feel. I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels like this.

Yep, "chilling" is the word for it.

This is just the type of player that ruins drafts, breaks hearts and gets coaches fired.

Johnson may turn out to be good, but this profile is one that we've seen before. It's pure folly that these coaches believe they can "light a fire" under anyone.

It's a mistake that's made over and over again.

The dreaded coach killa, lol. They are like home wreckers, pure seduction, too pretty to look at, is ultimately bad for you, but you have to have'em all the same.:)

He said we had 22 good players, not great good. They wouldn't be starting in the NFL if they weren't good.

I see your concern and players should not be thinking their jobs are safe from incoming competition, Henry/Scandrick case in point. But from purely a talent evaluation stand point they are good players are they not?

It should come to no one's surprise that we drafted these guys. He said it leading up to the draft that they were looking for "football players". I like it...at least we have some youth and a lot of it. Hunger. To me they are all blue collar type players...no big names, just sold football players. Kind of reminds you of NYG, Pats, Philly, Pitt....workman like with a few stars sprinkled in.

Mr. Ciskowski speaks:

"You never know how a kid is going to respond when he makes the amount of money that they make in the NFL.

Are they going to think they've arrived and forgot about how they got there? The hard work, and all the dedication?

There's 27 weeks of football for a rookie. That's two college seasons.

It's really more mental, when they've got to have the mental toughness and love football.

So it becomes a little bit of a grind. ... Well, if you don't love the game, you'll miss an assignment maybe on special teams, or the offensive lineman is not tuned in ..

So you've really got to stay glued in and love football, or you'll lose your edge ..

There's one thing that I think we do weigh heavily on, and that's how he plays football ...

You still have to take that into account, because it's played on the field. It's not played in shorts, in a workout, or anything like that.

I think every team needs good players. But we have our 22 right now. And most every kid that we draft is probably going to start out as a backup. And then see if he can earn his way into becoming a starter.

I just think at the end of the day when we look back at this draft three years from now, if we drafted good players, and we've got a few veterans, we'll look and see that what we drafted were the right guys ...

Because "he" initially started as a backup, and then so-and-so retired or moved on, and this guy flipped right in and replaced him.

We don't have to get cute and tricky, we can just take the best player (in this draft). Regardless."

(Yo I transcribed this from "The Blitz"/"Cowboys Draft Show" last night on CBS 11)..

That's all good, and he obviously had a great draft last year picking Scandrick and Choice. But whatever happened to this philosophy when they were picking Mike Jenkins, the kid who is scared of tackling:bang2:

Actually what he said was but we have our 22. Then he procedds to say that in rookie that come in will be a back up. Which I'm cool with however, just like last year the overly talented cowboys draft players to be back ups and don't expect anything from their rookies.

How many non 1st round picks start every year last i looked most rookies play sparingly unless it is a need or injury and sometimes they are just to good to keep of the field.

Expecting a 4th round pick to come in and be a starter as a rookie is stupid look no further than Bradie James to understand what the Cowboys are going

Patrick Crayton did not get significant playing time his rookie year until late in the season even though you could tell in preseason he was better than Ward in the slot because he still had things to learn

Tony Romo was groomed

Why is it every player you draft has to be a Pro-Bowler by the time the season starts :bang2::bang2::bang2:

Yeah. :D I don't believe his philosophy was strictly followed last year's draft, otherwise the pick would have been Antoine Cason or Brandon Flowers instead of Jenkins. Jenkins was more a measurables pick. But then again, we might have missed out on Martellus Bennett. That's why I firmly believe you have to take a few chances each draft, measured chances of course. But there will be some talented players who are able to overcome some of their perceived characater weaknesses, like Bennett.

From what I can make out, each player we selected is physical.

The QB can take a hit, and the kicker can even make a hit!

Brewster was described as a guy who liked to finish his blocks, has a bit of nasty in him.

D Smith was described by Wade as a vicious hitter (along those lines).

The most fierce hitter may be Stephen Hodge.

J Phillips is known for his blocking, so we know he's physical and not afraid of contact.

Everyone is raving about J Williams and his hitting.

I really like this draft class more and more.

Real football players.

The post was not just all about you there are a lot on the board that have been going on and it happens every year when there pet pick does not happen.

So what ever if you want to know the truth the entire blow hard this draft sucks is nothing but pissing in the wind; the this was a great draft is pissing in the wind. The fact is no one has a clue until they suit up and play and it is going to take a couple years to really see how this draft really turned out.

The fact is every assessment we make on the boards is pissing in the wind

Just hope we miss ourselves in the process
