Well, the joga bonito is a Catalan thing, not really a Rijkaard thing, tbh...But, stagnant wouldn't accurately describe him as a manager, he simply is conservative and not creative in terms of formations...His strengths lie within being focused and his calm personality...New blood in terms of a manager, will be key...Rumours are Laudrup and Guardiola are high on the list (As long as Mourinho isn't a possibility).

I don't know about wholesale changes...I never liked the Henry signing over a more natural poacher like Klose as he needs to be on the ball more...Would be disappointed to see Ronnie go but all good things come to an end and I'd rather see him regain his form then have him suffer at Barca...Doubtful on Ronaldo, Drogba or Berbatov...Zambrotta and Thuram are surely out and Lahm is allegedly 'in the fold' already...I had hoped for Modric but Spurs beat everyone to the punch...Would love to see Karim Benzema get signed...An attacking midfielder and a pure striker/poacher would be fine, IMHO.
As far as Managers, I don't think Mourinho will be hired. His philosophy and
Barca's are not close. He is a lot more tactical and that is exactly why he did so well in the PL.

Ronaldo did say that he will decide his future after the final game. If they win both, I bet he will stay if they lose, I can see him leaving, but Los Blancos would be all over that. Benzema is really good but I kinda feel that if it is not Real, the one of the PL teams, Chelsea, or even Milan (who keep throwing out rumors about every single player) would grab him.

I said stagnant because he saw for a couple of games that Barca is not scoring yet not much, if anything was changed. I don't know if that was due to lack of creativity or being stubborn. Henry was a good sign but if he would have let him play in his natural position. He might be coming the MLS to finish (kill) his career like Beckham.

5 bucks says Jerry is aware of when Chad Johnson will actually be available to trade for and so does Matt Millen and every other GM out there. Drew Rosenhaus knows it. Everybody involved will. If Millen really does want to get something for Roy Williams and you'd have to figure he must if he is admitting they listened to offers (even if he compared it to a bologna sandwich) the price comes down when Chad is really available and all know it. That is why Jerry specifically said he can get a veteran WR "this summer."

It's a waiting game. Which WR will it be? No one knows at this point. I still think it will end up being Roy Williams, but I'm hard headed that way.

Chad Johnson wants out because he is sick of losing. He isn't mad at his salary and he hasn't been arrested.

He feels he is the best player in the league of course but he gets no accolades playing in Cincy because they can't win and won't commit to winning.

I wouldn't even consider refusing to trade for him based on character concerns.

Keyshawn Johnson begs to differ with that opinion.

He stated on Saturday that he had talked to Chad.

He then stated that it is most definitely about money.

The Chad Johnson situation is much like many situations around the league.

Established veterans saw the increases in salary for lesser players as a result of the recent salary cap increase.

And players like Faneca, Lito Sheppard, and now Chad Johnson want a bigger piece of the pie.

I agree.

I think once June hits and CJ's cap hit can be minimized for the Bengals he becomes available. As each day passes Roy Williams' value drops which is why I think you have Millen basically begging publicly for a bigger offer.

I'd obviously rather have RW which would help us immensely now but even more so in a couple of years as the lead guy. We'd have hands down the best WR corps in the league for as long as we kept T.O. even as T.O. slows down and slides to the number 2 WR spot.

With CJ we'd still have the best corps int he league but it would be a short term window to win and I'd rather have RW abilities should tie nicely to Romo for 10 years.

It is pretty obvious is the draft plan was get guys who can help or add trade chips then next year we'll be fine we'll feel the same way and trading off picks after June for either RW or CJ is something Jerry wouldn't blink at.

why will they they care?.As long as its a NFC team they wont care if its a bad team or not.

You can't run an organization and make trades out of spite. You can trade a player who doesn't want to be there for the best possible players/picks, but not specifically to a team who is bad because their bad and get nothing in return.

The idea is an alternative to keeping a poisonous player on your roster in order to send a message to other players. This way, you don't hurt your team in order to make your point. It's not spite, it's a policy for not letting inmates run your assylum.

The real problem with the idea, though, is that no bad team would trade anything of comparable value for Chad b/c they know he'd then be a nightmare for them, too. Miami might be an option, though, since their arrow is pointing up where Cincy's--a better team right now--is pointing down.

If a player is traded, his cap hit isn't spread to the next year, is it? I thought that was only if a player was released.

Could be Miami.

Highly doubt it.

Parcells couldn't get along with TO... what makes you think he wants Chad? They don't want any type of disruptive personalities in the locker room as they remold the team. Makes no sense especially with them being in rebuilding mode.

I think it could be Dallas, but I hope not.

Cincy is really in a bind. If they let him go for anything less than what Washington offered, they'll be crucified by their fans and the local press.

Dear God, please no to this primadonna headcase...

I like what idgit said. Wait until the last minute and then trade him to the sorriest, cheapest franchise possible.

Anywhere but here.

Of course they will be interested in trading...AFTER JUNE 1st. There was no way on earth they were going to move him before that and take the cap hit.

Funny how people keep forgetting that little point.

I think the synapses aren't firing as to why that date is significant.

You make some good points. I wonder if we could get them both. And I don't mean trading either. Why not just wait and try to get them when they're either cheaper or even wait for them to hit the FA market. Although it could be more expensive to get either on the FA market, so.....

Dallas is a team that can attract players. RW wants to come here anyway. The way to get him may be to wait or at least wait until the price is optimum for us.

They won't trade him for less than the Commanders offer...it would have cost the Skins a first and a second.

I say no...stick with what we have and draft a receiver next year or sign one in free agency...do NOT give away multiple draft picks for Chad, Roy, or anyone else.

If they want to trade him they will have no choice because no one will pay that. It was stupid for Washington to even offer it. Unless they aren't aware of the cap savings after June 1. Given the way they mismanage the cap they might not.

Just curious... what are the numbers on that?

Thanks

I'm sorry but I don't remember. I just remember it as being fairly significant. I don't see a trade but then I'm often wrong. I underestimate how much Jerry loves SBs. Hos put some numbers up once I think. Ask him.
