Holy moly.

Don't you need to mow the yard or something???

Actually just finished it about an hour ago!

No lie!

You should play the lottery!

Wow! That number surprises me. That should have been a doable contract in Dallas.

We must be counting on Parnell as the starter, and the only question is who backs him up.
Maybe they offered and all things being equal he chose Miami.

Billion dollar franchise. Constantly in prime slots on TV, with the highest ratings. Sold out forever. Biggest fan base of any team in the league. Apparently we have our pick of any FA we want, if we could just make the money work, because they all want to come play here. Guess you're right. They don't win enough games. They're pathetic.

Are you Jerry's accountant or a fan of the football team? Yeah, they don't win enough games. 1 playoff win and 17 years of .500 football. They are pathetic.

Rich Dalrymple needs to worry.

Nobody does excuses like Cowboys Zone!

:laugh2:

Good bc he would end up having a half decent year then Jerry would give him a 7 yr 70 mil deal and he'd end up Doug free'ing us next year

So you don't think that's possible? Really? Everyone is going to choose the Cowboys if the money is the same?

This what happens when you're used to losing, you go numb to it

Sure.

Look no further than this thread!

We have our pick of any free agents.

Our excuse-making fans say so!

:laugh2:

And for the record, no I do not believe it for a second.

Considering their track record of futility and ineptitude, I believe everything but what you're speculating.

I do not give them credit for being smart enough to have been willing to match or exceed he Dolphins offer.

I fully expect them to lie to themselves and us about improvement from Free/Parnell.

But some suckers will but it.

They always do.

Just very disappointed by this news and the team's inactions is all.

It's possible. I think we'd have heard if they'd offered him money, but it's definitely possible someone would choose another team over Dallas.

What it says to me, though, is that they're looking at starting Parnell and weren't all that interested in a FA starter even if they were kicking the tires.

I don't love that, because we need improved play at RT, or at least another option out there if what we trotted out last year doesn't improve. It's possible Parnell improves with starter's snaps and another offseason with Callahan, but I'd be a lot more comfortable with a better backup plan than the status quo given how many problems we had coming off that edge last year.

A lot of us are disappointed. We're not all handling it the same way, though, stash.

Now that one...dead on. Need good ST players, but not for that.

They will keep him over one of these young safeties that was brought in as a UDFA, even if the rookie is a better defensive player. They overvalue special teams that much.

Agreed.

You and I seem to feel the same way.

You're handling it better than I am.

Your above post summed that up very well.

He is on a roll. Good stuff Stash.

Wow. Fair enough.

I do agree with you, overall. And I agreed with you re: Waters at the time, too. These were guys who were quality vets at positions of need who fell into our laps, and I think we probably missed the boat on both of them with what turned out to be reasonable value contracts.

In Clabo's case, I do think MIA would probably have outbid us if they had to, because they had a clear need for a starter there and have been trying to fill it for weeks now, but we still should have been more active in trying to get this done.

Not sure why we weren't unless, as I said, they expect to roll with Parnell and like what they've got. That's not a good plan in my book.

Yeah. We're in complete agreement here.

They could have for sure, but these numbers say they didn't

Same here.

And I fear we'll be working to correct this mistake next season after another failed campaign in 2013.

The offensive line got better as the year went on. It makes sense with more time blocking in Callahan's scheme and blocking together that they would continue to get better.

That being said people are seriously overreacting. Clabo wasn't the only tackle available in free agency. And it was somewhat obvious that the Dolphins were going to sign him over us. They had double the salary cap space we did.

Yeah, it improved - it went from downright putrid to just awful. I wonder if they can improve all the way to solidly below average by the end of this coming season?

People who spoke hopefully of OL improvement at the end of both 2011 and 2012 forget just how far from NFL caliber this group started. An improvement does not mean that much if at the end of that improvement you are still not "NFL-Ready".

When I posted that, I hadn't read all your post. You made this thread into a stomp-down. You were on the good end of one of the most one-sided debates that I can remember on this board.

Keep it up. ;)
