Claiborne benched... Can we finally admit he's a bust?

He may be benched but i'm not ready to give up on him just yet . It's only 4 games into his second year in the NFL. I dont know why so many people are wanting to get rid of this guy so quick. i think he will someday play at a high level hes just got to learn and get the confidence to play at a level i think hes capable of. the situation reminds me of when Dez had his slow start and people were already willing to be done with him. Now Dez is our number one playmaker. a lot can change very fast in the NFL. I would hate for us to give up on Mo and have him go to another team and then elevate his game to another level. For me its gonna take at least this whole year and the next for me to be ready to declare him a bust.

However, two things concern me so far, and these are obvious: always injured--but not big, debilitating injuries--and lack of plays (the reason we drafted him). Corners get beat, and good ones fight back. So there's still lots of time for him to prove himself. But he has to show something positive for a change.

Let's not forget how truly awful Newman's second season was in the pros. When you're not used to being challenged, it takes a while to adapt. Happened with Newman, hopefully will with MO

Newman had a meniscus early in 2004. It got better towards the end of the season

On opening day last year Claiborne was only 22. Newman on opening day in his rookie season was 25. Newman did have his struggles and I recall how Steve Smith dominating him in the Wildcard game back in '03. Newman overcame and even responded with shutting him down the next few meetings.

CB's confidence can easily be shaken. Even when you change up the scheme on them.

Keep in mind he's still young and is learning. It won't be an easy process. If he plays for any other team in the NFL we hear nothing of him. Playing with that star on his helmet just adds pressure on top of the ones he already has in transitioning to an NFL defensive scheme all over again.

I was excited as well to see him drafted, however they drafted for Rob Ryans style of defense and they went out and picked up Carr. I don't understand the change in philosophy

I think it's premature to conclude that Claiborne isn't worthy of a starting outside job at CB. He's hurt. It really seems kinda sad how many of us are so quick to rush to harsh judgments in light of one of our players being caught up in an unfortunate situation. Let's wait until he's healthy before reaching any negative conclusions.

That's right the Cowboys moved up from #14 to take Mo.

We are talking about a 5th round pick compared with a 1st round pick taken 5th overall . (and we gave a 2nd rounder for him ) . Are you seriously comparing a 1st rounder who has LOST games for us to a 5th round cb ?

A 5th rounder is a crap shot , a 1st rounder is suppose to be an immediate impact starting player .

I'm comparing ball players not some draft status. I have no issue with the coaches making Scandrick the starter and having Claiborne go out and earn the stop back. In the meantime Claiborne will see a lot of action considering that teams run a lot of 3 WR sets meaning Scandrick will move inside while Claiborne and Carr man the outside

I forget who it was...pretty respected draft site guy...said no way Claiborne was even the best Cb in this class. Had two guys above him. Looks like he was spot on or maybe had him too high also. And Jerry has him as the best since Deon.

Patrick Peterson is 50 times the player this chump is.
