Un. Re. Stricted. Free. Agent.

I think sometimes fans forget what that really means in stark terms. We have no rights on the player after this year. We don't get "first dibs" nor likely a whole lot in the way of special considerations.

32 teams can choose to vie for his services and if he plays this well all year...half the league will be interested...8 to 10 teams will bid up his salary. It won't be cheap and the Boys don't exactly have a great salary cap situation.

It's rare in a situation like this that a team is able to retain the player even if they try hard to make it work.

According to a fantasy football source, he's the top ranked corner.

Okay.

Holy crap, I would not have guess this in the offseason. The best I thought we could hope for was Mo becoming a decent corner. Looks like he was worth moving up for in the draft after all. We gotta keep this guy.

Umm, don't get sucked in. He is playing well, but well. Any site can use subjective data and make that claim.

Who the hell is 12up.com anyhow? It looks like a 13 year old kid wrote their website in notepad.

Mo is playing well. Maybe even top 10-15 well.

Best corner in the league he is not.

Well, he could technically be the No. 1 ranked corner while not being the best corner. He's benefited from some good fortune so far to go along with good play. At times when receivers have been open against him, there have been some off passes and he's gotten away with a few grabs. Of course, I hope that continues to happen.

2012 draft/rookie free agency turned out to be a decent year for us...

Starters: Beasley, Leary, Crawford, Claiborne, C. Jones... plus Hanna (key contributor in the running game), Wilber (special teams contributor), Dunbar (when healthy, productive offensive role player)...

8 players still on the roster... How many other teams can match this production from their 2012 rookie class...

You don't draft a corner at number 6 and watch him grow and let him walk. The money will be there. Scandrick isn't even on the field the last two years. Cut him and pay him with that money. Draft another corner in the first or second. Problem solved.

Not only that even Stephan says to him keep playing like this and the more your going to get paid. Cowboys aren't going to let that dude walk without cutting some other players first.

Brandon Carr comes of the books this year. Use his salary and Mo's current number and you get pretty close. You promote Brown (as long as his arrow continues to point up) and draft a guy behind Oscan next season and cut him loose after 2017. Mo can be kept.

I'd even be fine with cutting Oscan and keeping Carr. Carr has never missed a game I don't think. We will either keep Carr or Oscan and draft a replacement for the other. I cannot see us letting our best corner walk then having to use another 1st when we can get a dlineman. Not only that Mclain isn't coming back. We can get a corner in the 2nd or 3rd and be just fine

It's rare in a situation like this that a team is able to retain the player even if they try hard to make it work.

Dallas will have tons of money under the cap this offseason and Jerry Jones doesn't let any FA leave that he wants to keep. The only FA that really left without an offer was DeMarco. That was because Jerry thought he could get 70% of the production from DMC for 10% of the money - and he was right.
