Claiborne ranked top corner in NFL

Claiborne should stay next year on a reduced contract to make up for the past performance drops and be thankful the Cowboys kept him and gave hime a third or forth chance. How much money does one really need in life ? He has the opp to play with some great peers and finally enjoy some harmony in football. I'd take that over a big contract with a losing team.

Considering his injury history, he needs to get as much money as he can. That sucks for us, but he can't risk it.

We're playing exclusively Man. Not surprised to see him having more success.

When you tell him to line up vs. a guy and say "Shut him down," he doesn't have to think much and can show off his skillset.

yup, marinelli wasted years trying to run zone with man corners smh

I agree he excels in man coverage. But it looked to me that he was in zone a good chunk of the time in zone in the Bengals game. In replays I saw him passing his guy off quite a bit. I think it's a combo off both but the preponderance is man.

Rounders was a great movie, one of the best of all time, it is TOTALLY AWESOME!!!
I loved it but as a poker nerd I wish they went deeper into the actual dynamics (squeezing, floating, 3-4-5 betting, reading betting patterns; that's how they were schooling the fish in the AC scene with the regular pros, etc.) as well as the head game. I understand they did it for the mainstream audiences to grasp, etc. but that would've made it tops on my list.

Ok, you guys are funny. I'm more concerned about dropping a hefty contract on a guy with a limited positive track record and how that will impact the ability of the team to acquire other talent.

He's playing really well.

I wouldn't give those ranking much cred, but it sure beats the alternative.
I'm happy for him!

The Cap increases next year and Dallas is already set to have a lot of money to spend in 2017. If you look at the salaries of the secondary for next year, it looks like this:

Claiborne - 3 Million Base with 2 Million Incentives in 2016, FA next year

Byron Jones - 2.4 Million salary next year

Barry Church - 4.75 Million this year, FA next year

Scandrick - 3 Million salary next year, 5 Million total cap hit in 2017

Carr - 7.5 Million total, cap hit of 10 Million in 2016 - Free Agent after this year

Anthony Brown - 575K salary next year

With Carr's salary coming off the books it wouldn't be hard to bump Claiborne from 5MM per season to 10MM. Its easy to see Anthony Brown replacing him but even if Carr resigns it will be for much less than his current cap hit.

Also Kavon Frazer could replace Barry Church and save 5 Million in salary by that move.

What kind of package do you see Clai getting. We discussed this previously, but I'd like to bring it up again, if you don't mind, kind sir.

Was it 5/40 18 guar?

Mo is playing well. Maybe even top 10-15 well.

Best corner in the league he is not.

He's not even close to the best in the league but don't tell that to some here. lol He's played solid, staying on the field not battling injuries has helped him but he still plays not to get beat and occasionally gets caught grabbing the receiver.

There's been some luck but he's definitely been playing well. If Gabbert doesn't terribly under throw that pass at the end of the 49ers game it's a completely different story, but give Morris his just due for stepping up his game.

Who's said he's the best in the league? I must've missed that.

Deion Sanders has a completely different take on why Claiborne's thriving.

He says Mo switching sides has helped him tremendously, because Mo naturally and habitually steps forward with his right foot at the snap.

On the left side, that means he can easily open his hips to the outside and run with the WR. But when he was on the right side, it was much tougher to open his hips to the sideline.
I saw that and it made sense. That and playing more man to man. They drafted him and signed Carr, both Man Corners, and put them in a zone.

I can assure you there's a few who think he's the best in the league, they're called FANS and they'll believe if he's the top ranked corner he's the best corner.

I thought that 4/32-36m with 16m guaranteed might get it done before he hit FA

That's not what you said, and I wanted clarification. So for the record, you were just using hyperbole to make a point, KJJ?

Sweet dude, thanks for the reply.

That contract would be very nice for both parties, and hopefully there would be injury clauses/performance insentives in it as well.
