If JJ doesn't do something quick the whole league will know the guy is a bust. The only reason I mention SUH is due to the fact there was a lot of rumors stating Detroit wish to move on with him.

His being available and our ability to give what it might take to get him are probably two different things. What we can afford most likely wouldn't be nearly in the ballpark of what Detroit would demand for him. Claiborne most likely wouldn't provide enough of a buffer to make acquiring Suh a practical consideration.

It <wouldn't> completely shock me to see Mo released -- as crazy as it seems. It would only <slightly> shock me...

Sometimes an organization just comes to the conclusion a guy isn't good and is never going to get better. If they feel he is the 4th or 5th best CB on the team it's probably better to release him than to deal with the media distraction of having a guy they've invested so much so far down on the bench.

Ie, GM's don't like seeing their busts (ie their mistakes) every day on the practice field. It reminds them of their mistakes.

That wouldn't be smart, you're paying him pennies so even if he's still doing terrible he's not taking much of your salary anyway. His upside is far greater than the pennies it'd save to cut him, imo.

It's just funny how he acted after the pick. Proved that training camp bravado was fake. If it were real he would've got up,spiked the ball and screamed loud enough so every critic could hear. Instead he looked like he wanted to cry lol. Weak dude

Very weak. Mickey said after the game he was trembling and almost looked like he wanted to cry. He has severe confidence issues.

Claiborne is another Felix Jones/Pacman Jones/ TO. He's one of the guys that the fanbase hates and magically believes that the team will get better if we let him go. Moore and Patmon will be getting spanked just as bad, if not worse than Claiborne. It happens when you have no pass rush and inconsistent safety play. We have, what, 3 sacks over 3 games? Dez was a scapegoat too, being 'too dumb to know his routes' and there was talk here of how we needed to trade him because of his thuggish ways.

If Janoris Jenkins was here, the fanbase would be roasting him too. I seen on the board that he's the corner that they wanted, but didn't he give up a huge touchdown against Dez and didn't the Rams end up losing? Claiborne hasn't nearly lived up to his draft status, but to act like he's absolute garbage, and that guys like Moore or Patmon would put up a better showing is pure fantasy.

If you don't have a pass rush, your corners will end up giving up catches sooner or later, bottom line.

Mo misses every training camp AND he seems to be a slow learner,,, which is a horrible combination. He's also on his 3rd or 4th defensive coach.

It would be nice to give him an extremely narrow role that he can understand and play with confidence until he's able to learn Marinelli's schemes, but I don't know if he's capable of that.

I think it is up to Moore and Patmon to win the job in practice. If they are out performing Claiborne during the week then they deserve the chance to play on Sunday.

I wish we knew with certainty that the best player would always get the start regardless of where they were drafted or what they are paid. I can't confidently draw that conclusion with this organization.

Again Dallas benched him last year and Scandrick took over, when Carter struggled they benched him as well. They have shown they are willing to do just that.

Lets be honest here fellas, the Claiborne pick has been a complete disaster. You don't burn the 6th overall pick for a CB that plays like he does, you just don't. Jerry on the Fan even said the Mo has not lived up to his draft status..........that is code for Jerry calling him a bust without actually saying it.

Quick was making MO his %$$#@! all game and Quick is not even that good of a WR. Yea, Mo got the pick on a ball that was horribly overthrown, that does not absolve him for 50 snaps of pure suckage. Moose on the broadcast said the Rams were intentionally targeting Mo on almost every pass play, you don't think every other team on our schedule is going to do the same thing?

I don't blame them, if I was an OC and was fixing to play Dallas, I would go after Mo every freaking play until he showed me he could stop it. The bottom line is that he is a huge liability right now and the team cannot afford to have him on the field if he is going to keep playing the way he is.

I agree with Nick Eatman, he said you let Mo start the game against the Saints, but you have a quick hook if he starts getting toasted by Brees. So that is what I do, I tell Mo he has the first quarter to get his act together and start playing ball like he did at LSU. If Brees is going at him every down, I pull him for the game.

hope you're right

I hope Claiborne goes out and puts up a big game and this becomes a moot point. If Dallas has to replace him they will, I don't think Jason or Rod are willing to put their jobs on the line for any particular player to play. If Moore shows them he can do a better job over Claiborne they will put him in

I think in this case that if there's a quick hook they should just pull it now.

If his play is bad enough to warrant being pulled after a bad play, they've probably already waited too long.

Even better.

It still irks me they spent this much on a pick who in his 3rd year is a serious question mark. IMO, you just cant take those kind of risks in todays NFL and if their scouting is that fallible or you want to say drafting is a 50-50 (or some other %) proposition, then I'd virtually never risk two picks for one player unless the 2nd pick was a 6th round pick or less (maybe a 4th considering our recent history with that pick).

My beef is not with Mo, its with however or whomever came up with the conclusion he was the next deon, some serious reflection needs to be made on how they missed this bad (as well as the Roy Williams evaluation) so this crap doesn't happen again.

Because if he is the 4th CB he is an embarrassment to the front-office that spent the mother-load on drafting him and the coaching staff that failed to develop the best CB prospect to come out the NFL draft since Deion Sanders in 1989.

Ie, everybody at all levels of the organization becomes embarrassed of the massive failure and having to deal with the guy every day just reminds them (and the media) of that failure.

I'm sorry to tell you that no organization in the NFL operates this way, however.

I was watching ESPN earlier this morning and saw a snip-it from ESPN (Dallas) that read something like this -- Garrett: Claiborne status up in the air.

Of course I was trying to speculate exactly what was meant without having read the actual article. Just don't have the time. I doubt the writer meant anything regarding status due to injury. So it might mean that the confidence the coaches have in Mo is beginning to dwindle.

I have always stood by the pick of Morris Claiborne, but for some reason since coming out of LSU, he has yet to live up to his billing. With that said, I really like Sterling Moore and that kid Patmon. If Garrett has any reservations about Mo, now is the time to see what Patmon or Moore have going for them as starters. IMHO, I honestly do not believe there would be any drop off in play replacing Mo with one of these two guys I just mentioned. At the very least, if the Cowboys brass decided to go with Sterling or Patmon and it didn't pan out, it's not like the level of play would decline. If anything, the level of play would be on par with what we are currently seeing in Mo. Then again, the level of play just might begin to trend upwards with Patmon or Sterling manning an island opposite Carr/Scandrick.

Now before anyone blows a gasket; I do realize that our secondary is handicapped due to a lack of a consistent pass rush, YET AGAIN. But the lack of a consistent pass rush has been a problem for the Cowboys for the last 2 to 3 seasons. So regardless, it might be time to sit our 1st round CB for a bit; and let's see what we have in this Patmon kid, or Moore. The secondary is going to have to come around and help out. Let the best players play. For that to happen, sometimes you have to change things up to actually find out.
I am not here to bash Mo, but I believe we might have a solution between 2 other players on our team not named Morris Claiborne. I do hope that Jason Garrett and Rod Marinelli have mulled this over; and maybe, just maybe, that little ESPN (Dallas) "teaser" means that Garrett and Rod are considering the options.

If Mo remains the starter, nothing will change regarding my support for the kid. It'll be 100%. But I truly hope that if Moore or Patmon are having better practices, and out-performing Morris during the week, they need give one of those two guys a legitimate shot.

Amen?

given he is the 6th pick of the draft, his leash is a little longer. but I think if he struggles in this game, you will quickly see him replaced probably by scandrick and then with the others....

Swallow your pride... realize your mistake... and move on... this should be the thought process of both a CB and a GM.

Watch us start in the nickel package with Kyle Wilber, the SAM LB, benched. The Saints would probably use their 3 WR sets most of the time anyway. Saves Garrett from bruising Claiborne’s ego more than it already is.

Lets also be real about the fact that Garrett is not going to risk his job for Mo. The majority of the fans and media believe that Garrett has to at least qualify for the playoffs this year to get an extension, so Garrett is going to do what is best for Garrett in this situation and if benching Mo is called for, he will do it.

Well you will not know unless you try. I believe his contract is up this year so he can walk or resign, this is what makes it interesting.
