FWIW, he was spending one-on-one time with Dez before the game. Dez was giving him tips on positioning and defending fly routes. He was running comfortably with Dez, though they were only going like 80%.

Not season ending, but a back injury is pretty serious.

There is a multitude of reports,quotes, and video interviews answering this exact scenario as to why these players are being held out. The staff has made it MORE than clear they are using extreme caution in terms of injuries and playing players coming off injuries.
