Clarifying My Stance on Tony Romo

Carefull Ben - those that tend to toss around agenda can't take it when facts are thrown back in their face.

I know, Nors ... and I don't want to make this in to a flame war as some or suggesting (instigating for a better term) ... but it's clear that those who cried agenda to me with my concerns about Henson actually have a HUGE agenda regarding Henson ...

... As I've said, I want to give the little bastid a chance ... but I admit I think Romo is the better choice ... you just don't see me reaching for a reason that he is a better player ... his performance did the talking ...

I was watching the game with the sound down while listening to the radio broadcast with Troy and Brad Sham. Troy was also saying very good things about him during the Radio broadcast, and said he felt Tony Romo has the tools to start in the league. And Troy was anything but liberal with his complements that night.

He also said in the FWST when you watch Tony throw the ball, he looks like a high round draft pick, not an undrafted free agent. I appreciate the comments and observations by those in attendance, I really do. But I do find it puzzling why they are weighed and talked about so much more than the observation of a Hall of Fame QB. Apparently, the only two media members who have watched the practices who feel like Tony has the physical tools to start in this league are the two guys who have played QB in the NFL.

Also, Romo was not completing passes on scrubs. Antrell Rolle broke up the pass in the endzone on a very athletic play (yes, I know that franchise QB's never have their passes broken up by great plays by the CB). I'm pretty sure the Cardinals plan on Rolle being a starter. Two of the completions on Witten were with tight coverage provided by Quentin Harris, who has started in this league for the Cardinals.

When this reaches the Morton/ Staubach.....stage .......we are in good shape.

I hope this becomes an all out blood bath on the field between these two Youn-uns for the starting job. It will only make this team better.

No, the difference is we all know our opinions mean nothing, but Troy is given this... as a talent evaluator, when in reality he is now just another talking head.

The guy completed 8 of 10 passes. Playing X-files with that is really just silly.

Just wait and get some actual proof before arguing he can't cut it. Arguing he can't play right now is simply assinine.

1st teamers on defense or not Jason Witten is gonna get open and catch passes. KJ is gonna catch passes in traffic. You just have to get the ball to them and Romo does appear to be able to do that. Romo faces 1st teamers at times in practice yet throws the least picks of the 3 QBs unless media just refuse to report his picks.

Romo is not my fave guy because I think he plays wayyyyy too much golf for my liking but he is clearly outplaying Henson at this point and to deny that is simply comical. I do think everyone would agree Henson has the higher upside and more athleticism but good lord how many QBs with all world talent just flat suck at the position?

Romo was the number 2 for a reason and it would not at all shock me for him to remain the number 2 all year.

To me Henson is alot like Rogers in that just because a guy has more talent doesn't mean he gets it all together and performs.

Ultimately it would be wonderful if either guy became our answer after Bledsoe but nothing has lead me to believe either guy is thus far.

And the voice of reason speaks again ... JTerrell ... it's not just arse kissing anymore ... you are truley one of the best posters to walk the land ...

Morton / Staubach was a classic QB tug-o-war. The bigger Morton with the more powerful arm and all of the measurables against the smaller Staubach with a merely adequate arm and all of the intangibles.

I thought it was pretty obvious (even on TV) that Romo simply threw that ball too late. Had he released it when Crayton was at the 5, it would have probably been a TD.

Or had it been a reciever that could go verticle ... that was a TD ...

Romo throws the ball faster than ANYONE in last years draft.....Imagine knocking accuracy and touch and completions? And going gaga over 46% cannonlike darts. Smith, who could be the first overall pick in the draft, was first among quarterbacks in the 20-yard shuttle with a time of 3.96 seconds. He finished second among quarterbacks in the three-cone drill with a time of 6.82. He even broad-jumped 9-5, which ranked him sixth among quarterbacks. . . .

Which quarterback prospect throws the hardest? Surprise, surprise, it's Purdue's Kyle Orton. His "ball speed" was timed at 57.3 mph at the Combine. . . .

That ball in the endzone was catchable. That's not even debateable. If it weren't catchable then the DB wouldn't of been able to get a hand on it.

This brings me back to why anyone should take anything Hos is saying with antying other than a grain of salt ... according to him, it was a lob, with too much air under it, poorly thrown, almost intercepted .... and had 0% chance of being caught?
