I've been reading all the Sean Taylor tributes on this forum. Cowboys fans are very classy in their sympathy for a fallen Commander. I know the rivalry between the Cowboys and Commanders is very intense.

I think it's great that fans can put a football rivalry behind them and show sympathy and support for a rival who was the victim of a terrible tragedy. If this was a Packers player who died, Bears and Vikings fans would be making jokes about it.

I tip my hats to all the Cowboys fans here. You're all a class act.

The background and the icon are nice.
But I have to wonder, why?
Seems it's just self-serving, as in "aren't we sensitive and great?"

time for Springs to come back. Or Romo as it was before Springs.

And with ex Cowboys, NFL players and perhaps current players meeting their demise in the coming years, it's gonna be a slippery slope to include them, as well.

I would tend to agree. I would have preferred to have the option to keep the Cowboys' logo and colours.

What a surprise .....

I guess some of these less classy Cowboy fans forgot how the Commanders reacted to Crazy Rays death.

If you don't like it ....... Go Away ..... I am sure it will be back to normal on game day tomorrow.

if it is as idiotic as the 1% that we can understand read, then its not worth it.

I cant see why anyone would make such a ignorant post!

I don't have a problem with it, but let's not overkill it either if ya know what I mean. Plus some of you guys seem like you've developed some crushes on the Commanders' posters/team. I understand grieving and showing class and whatnot, but there's only so much you can ask of me--I'm not turning this into a complete lovefest, we still have one more game with them this year!

And to those really bothered by it, I don't see the big deal. Go over to extremeskins and read that thread to notice how much those guys actually appreciated it. Your first round star safety, coming off his first pro bowl is.. gone. Not traded. No compensation. His life is gone. A guy who was, according to our very own Roy Williams, 'finding Jesus in his life'. Roy is a religious guy, and apparently had been talking to Taylor frequently, and Taylor had been on the right track.

While myself, and others included, may not respect everything about Taylor's game or some of the incidents he's been involved in, he was a hell of an athlete. He was a father of some young children. It's a heartbreaking story, so I don't see the big deal of honoring him for a couple of days leading up to our game.....

But we're 10-1 with Cowboys colors. I think tomorrow is the right day to change it back. ;)

Just my two cents.. and yes, I'm extremely superstitious.

It's just a little something to honor a person (we're all familier with as football fans) whose life was cut short. It is also a recognition that football is just a game which at times can divide us, but at the end of the day (channeling Romo here:D ) there is a thing called life that is much bigger than a GAME.

If the tribute is misunderstood by some, too bad. The Skins fans sure seem to appriciate it.

Well, as long as we are serving the emotional needs of Skins fans, then it is all good and worth it.

Wrong, this is not just about Skins fans, a lot of people (players and fans) around the nation are saddened by this tragedy, including many on this forum.

What is the big deal? And i don't care what the skins fans would have done if the table was reversed. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FOOTBALL AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH HUMANITY.

For anybody to come on here and complain that something is over kill in regards to what colors and tributes are being shown to honor of a fallen player is rediculous. The man was killed in a sensless act I for one hate everything there is about that franchise but this is bigger than a rivalry and football. this is still a cowboys message board and your still able to go about your business in regards to posting cowboy stuff but dont critique a wonderful gesture that the mods have done for the man.

I am afraid your wrong and insensitive. It is only self serving to someone like you has has selfishness in their heart. To me it is a kind gesture. Obviously you have never had to lend a hand to someone in need.

Oh, the humanity.
All this outpouring of self-serving grief is touching.
We shall go forward, then, applauding crunching bone-smashing hits on Sundays (and Thursdays), trading insults with Skins and Eagles fans and then shedding untold alligator tears when someone in another state meets his maker.
Pal, shed those tears for the less fortunate in your own backyard.
dry those tears and roll up your sleeves and work for your community to save some underprivileged kid or help some family who can't pay their mortgage.
That is compassion, not self-serving tears and alms and accolades for someone you never met and who probably would give you the finger because you wore the star.

I and many other fans were horrified this shooting could happen. And more horrified that it happens every day in every city in every state. Yet, we don't stop the world and shed tears and shroud our homes in dark maroon or Eagles green when things like this happen. We go on and take care of our own.
Where is the daily handwringing of kids being blown apart or bystepped by an uncaring system that caters to the rich and powerful and ones with great attorneys?
Get a sense of proportion.
You are like the knee-jerk who shows up at the vigil with a candle in his hand and all dewey-eyed over someone you never met (Princes Di or Kurt Cobain) but bypass the red kettle or think 10% is all you owe as a tithe. Yes, ignore the food pantries in your hometown and pass by that homeless person and shrug your shoulders when a soldier is cut down in a foreign land.
Yet, you and others rush to the altar of the rich and famous.
Let your neighbors eat cake, but boy, if youc an get the spotlight on you holding that candle, then celebrity worship is jus all right with you.

By the way, I mentor two kids and put in a four-hour shift at a food pantry in the Metroplex and help repair playground equipment at schools in poor parts of town. I have little time for celebrity worship.

Go in peace. Serve your fellow man and enough with the sappiness and this I-can-outgrieve-you mentality.

I realize this is a discussion board, but sometimes I wish people would reserve their right to remain silent.

Geez, some of you act like the skin is going to be permanent. It's just a simple gesture by the staff, nothing more, nothing less.

This is a classy place for the most part.

I am glad they changed the colors. It is a nice thing to do. Everyone feels bad for the guy, his family and the team and its fans.

I am not sure everyone would react the same though and it says alot about this place again. I am sure if we really wanted to we could pull up some of the posts of last year when owens nearly accidentally overdosed on his prescription medication.

Everyone, including the media took shots at owens, he could have died. Fox and espn went out of their way to show the signs in the parking lot and what the eagles fans were saying to owens on the field. All the pundits took shots at him calling him a distraction and a bad guy, for an accident.

I dont like owens one bit, but I was pretty shocked how everyone attacked the guy for making a mistake that would have harmed no one but himself and his family.

So I am not saying but I am saying.

It's because it's the Commanders that the gesture was worthwhile. He played for our most hated rival, and we know how much he meant to them. Changing the skin for two days is a really nice way to make it clear that we understand how the fraternity works and that fraternity really is more important than the teams we associate with. It's a reaffirmation of what should be important to us. What's the point of resenting that?

I agree the maroon is garish, though. I won't miss it when we're through reaffirming everything.

You obviously don't get it. This is a FOOTBALL message board. The tragedy has affected FOOTBALL. It just so happens that the victim plays for a team that most of us hate with all of our being. It also just so happens that we have on ongoing banter with some of the fans of that team on this very message board. You know, it's one of those biggest rivalries in sports kind of things. The color change is a gesture, an olive branch of sorts to a group of people that 99% of the time we could give a **** less about. It's an unfortunate incident and we are "putting down the gloves" and extending a hand to some fans that are grieving.

If you don't like it hit the road. BTW Nobody gives a rat's *** how many children you mentor or how many hours you put in at the local pantry. Save the whole self righteous act for your "Save the World" rallies. "Spotlight on you holding the candle indeed".
