BUT he did play football and this is a FOOTBALL FORUM.

If you don't wanna read about ST then go on a "Healthy Eating" forum or something.

It's a discussion forum so all comments about him are fair game.

However, check out why I wrote what I just wrote. The previous poster said he was much more than a football player "To those that bask in their ignorance, they only know him only as a rival's football player, but to most people he is much much more" is what was written.

Then again, I guess there is some truth that he much much more than a football player but I will leave it up to you to set out what first came to your mind when you heard the name Sean Taylor November 25.

Don't let your missplaced guilt of what you thought of him before his death cloud your thinking. Search your feelings, you know I am right.

Except that he did pay Football and we did know him because of that. This argument about if it was a average Joe is pointless. The fact is he wasn't an average Joe. What if this had been Demarcus Ware? Would you belittle those of us who chose to publicly offer our condolences because we knew him through our beloved team? The impact that Sean's death has to that team would be equivalent to Ware's importance to our defense. I don't see the problem with forgetting the rivalry for the time being and grieving with our rival fans over a devastating loss.

I can appreciate your position on it, but I don't see why some of you feel the need to publicly cry foul. How exactly has the color change or the expressions of remorse affected you? It seems to me that some people just want the attention that being arbitrary will bring. That too me is a sad state of mind to be in.

What a surprise .....

I guess some of these less classy Cowboy fans forgot how the Commanders reacted to Crazy Rays death.

If you don't like it ....... Go Away ..... I am sure it will be back to normal on game day tomorrow.

I think we should leave it up until after the Commanders game. I think that the members of this forum could stomach the colors for 4 more days. It is a great show of support, and I think we should show our support until his team addresses it on game day.

Thats my $.02

So people can't change?

The bad things he did in his earlier days are forever gonna judge him?

He wasn't allowed to grow and mature?

If you wanna answer NO to all 3 then go ahead. Its an opinion... but you cannot say you don't feel at all bad for his family. Did they deserve this?

A lot of the posts here are going out to his family... thats what is hurting the most when people think of this entire situation.

His finance, his daughter, friends and family. None of them deserved this.

well he didn't deserve it either but I am alway skeptical of those who found the Lord before their death, be it timely or untimely.

however, the posts are never going to be seen by his family so writing them makes the poster feel better but does nothing for the intended recipient because that person never sees them.

There are things being said and done everyday that go unheard and unseen but it doesn't mean they were for nothing.

unheard and unseen by the recipient?

It is like the old line, if a tree falls in a forest and no one is there, does it make a sound

clearly the answer is no because sound is only what a person perceives it to be

if Taylor's family never sees the comments, they are meaningless to them so to them, it is like they never existed

The Commander fans appreciated all that was said and done by this forum.

They were in time of need and sympathy. They got it from us. Thats a good thing.

Not gonna continue this back and forth so I am moving on...

Against my better judgment I am going to post in this thread.. This thread, and the premise for its creation, sickens me. We can go back to bashing one another in a week or two. How about just give a little bit of time for a tragedy to run its course? Just a little... I'm no Skins fan but I am a fan of humanity and this was a terrible crime against humanity. There will undoubtedly be more to come out about this sad event and my guess is they'll never find who did this because someone may have paid someone else to do it if you know what I mean... It's really sad and, Commander or not, a 24 year old does not deserve to get offed like this... Ok. I've said my piece. Back to your quibbling...

Feel free to bash on me if you'd like. My coat is made of thick armor. I was one of the lone supporters of TO and his unlucky finger last year.. so bring it. (or grow up)

There is also an old saying about Integrity. Doing the right thing even when nobody is watching.

The kicker is what each person believes integrity means. For some, it's not allowing hypocracy to invade there personal morals. For others it's showing compassion to your fellow man.

For all it should be respecting one anothers personal decisions to do either.

I understand this is a discussion board but at the end of the day, I kinda look at these types of situations and ask myself, what would I want if it were my Son dead or my daughter left behind. I guess I just don't feel to bad about paying respects even if it's constured as hypocritical. I will be totally honest in saying that I have never been a fan of Taylor. He was a great player, no question, but I never liked the persona. In fact, when this thing first broke, I wondered if this was another situation in which he was caught doing something he should not have been. I actually posted something to the effect. Later, as I realized the severity of the situation, I honestly felt bad for the things I'd posted. No matter what he did or did not do, he did not deserve to die like he did. I guess I just don't feel real bad about being precieved as a hypocite. To be honest, I'd feel worse if I didn't show compassion in this situation.

Shoot, we might even find out a week from now that this was some sort of retaliation for something ST did. Still won't make up for the sadness of a death. I just don't understand how certain individuals around here can call out those who have been showing respect for the dead.

I cannot believe that Gimmie and Canadiancowboy have spammed and trolled a thread started by a Commander fan thanking Cowboy fans.

Actually looking at their history ..... I can.

Some people may feel that way, but I wouldn't assume that it applies to everyone. When he was involved in the gun stuff, I thought he was a knucklehead. However, I did note that he hadn't been in the news for any knucklehead behavior since. Whether he was a changed man or not, I don't know.

I just don't get the uproar about why something so simple bothers people. Do I feel the need to go to a Sean Taylor vigil? No. Does my hurt heart over a senseless death? Yes.

I'm a sensitive person sometimes. And when a life is short-circuited, no matter their background, I feel sympathy for the parties involved. Now, that's just me.

If a Cowboy had died the Skins and the Women Hogs would be making jokes about it.

The background and the icon are nice.
But I have to wonder, why?
Seems it's just self-serving, as in "aren't we sensitive and great?"

time for Springs to come back. Or Romo as it was before Springs.

And with ex Cowboys, NFL players and perhaps current players meeting their demise in the coming years, it's gonna be a slippery slope to include them, as well.

Irregardless!

I hated Shaun Taylor as a player because he was a highlight waiting to happen.

That being said, I have felt saddened by what has happened, and yes, tragedies happen everyday on this planet to lots of people, but I do admire the gesture by the mods to the Commander fans and orginization.

Thanks for showing some class guys.

Excuse me, but to just about everyone who posts here, he was just a football player. As has been pointed out, he is only being "honoured" here because he is a football player. Hell many here who are now pouring out condolences and saying what a great man he was were calling him a thug and loser not 72 hours ago.

He is not much more to most people. If he didn't play football, you would not even know he existed.

like if President Bush was not president, I would not know who he is; or if Jennifer Anniston was not an actress, we wouldn't know who she is either.

I get it, thanks.

p.s. I think my boss is a #ss, hope he doesn't die cuz I wouldn't sign the damn card.....

Well, as long as we are serving the emotional needs of Skins fans, then it is all good and worth it.

I've always liked you, bud, but I worry about the lack of humanity you're demonstrating... really, who's harmed by the tribute that Reality decided to put up for a few days??

I also have to ask if you, noted Cowboys fan, can't find just a wee bit of empathy for all those hurting Skins fans, or if you really are one of those jagoffs who thinks he has to "hate" everything about the team, up to and including their fan base...

I'd be in deep doo-doo if I felt that way, since most of my family are die-hard Skins fans...

I honestly would have expected better from you; if this "tribute" really bothered you, the class move would have been to keep it to yourself...

Oh, the humanity.
All this outpouring of self-serving grief is touching.
We shall go forward, then, applauding crunching bone-smashing hits on Sundays (and Thursdays), trading insults with Skins and Eagles fans and then shedding untold alligator tears when someone in another state meets his maker.

What makes you think our tears are "alligator tears"?? Is it so impossible for you to conceive of a LIMIT to our "Skins hatred", a limit that stops somewhere short of gloating when a member of that team dies??

Pal, shed those tears for the less fortunate in your own backyard.
dry those tears and roll up your sleeves and work for your community to save some underprivileged kid or help some family who can't pay their mortgage.
That is compassion, not self-serving tears

Exactly how are our words of condolence "self-serving"?? The longer you try to defend your contrarian position here, the worse you make yourself look... keep it up, and pretty soon very few in here will care to read your schtick, Bluto...

Get a sense of proportion.

Physician, heal thyself...

By the way, I mentor two kids and put in a four-hour shift at a food pantry in the Metroplex and help repair playground equipment at schools in poor parts of town. I have little time for celebrity worship.

Or apparently, for simple human decency...
