I agree with you, but this is America. The man has a right to his opinion.

True, he does. But he doesn't have the right to avoid the consequences of his actions. If he said those nigs, which it looks like he did, he'll be facing intense pressure to sell the team and leave the NBA alone.

FWIW, this is not the first time Sterling has been called a racist. In 2006 the US Justice department, sued him for discrimination, claiming he would not rent houses to blacks, or families with children. He ended up settling.

And then there was the wrongful termination lawsuit by Elgin Baylor, which in all fairness, was rejected, where multiple racist claims came out.

I haven't listened to the recording and I'm not sure if I will, mainly because I wouldn't be able to say what his voice sounds like, but if he said these things, I'm pretty sure there is no context we are missing, that would explain what he was trying to say

Freedom of speech stops the government from throwing you in jail, fining you or any other type of harassment based on something you said. It does not mean that there are no consequences for spewing such opinions and that we as a society should accept these opinions.

racists dont date people theyre supposedly racist against LOL

Some racists do. Not all or not a majority, but some do. Plus a person can have racial allegations against them, but not be a racist. Racist moments in life is different than being a racist.

not only this...but somehow he is racist but dating a half black chick? that doesnt add up at all either.

So were slave owners not racist because they would sleep with their slaves? Complete logic fail.

Furthermore, in this recording he is blatantly telling his gf to deny her black side and self-identify as a "white/latina". Those were his words.

Stop making excuses for this man.

Yes, you have complete logic fail. Being a slave owner does not make one racist. One of the first ever slave owners in America was Anthony Johnson in the early 1600's...a black man from Angola africa.

First off, Anthony Johnson was one of the first ever BLACK slave owners, not first ever slave owners. He was originally a slave himself. Secondly, maybe you've never heard of this before, but native Africans are often racist towards African Americans. Not a clear comparison here, but it goes to show that people can be racist against their own race.

Regardless, nice strawman argument you created. None of this has anything to do with the fact Sterling doesn't mind his gf sleeping with black men, but will get upset if she is seen on Instagram or at his games with one. He doesn't want his peers making fun of him for dating someone who associates with "those people." Considering his history of discrimination against minorities, what exactly is your point here?

Wait, where is this coming from? Are you saying Magic was having an affair with her?

No no no, not at all. That recording is nine minutes long, and at one point Sterling yells at her that she could sleep with them, do whatever she wants with them, but just don't put it on Instagram or bring them to my games. She then replies she's never brought anyone to his games. I don't think Sterling was saying Magic Johnson, just African Americans in general.

This is from ********, an extended version of the same conversation:

V: I don't understand, I don't see your views. I wasn't raised the way you were raised.

DS: Well then, if you don't feel—don't come to my games. Don't bring black people, and don't come.

V: Do you know that you have a whole team that's black, that plays for you?

DS: You just, do I know? I support them and give them food, and clothes, and cars, and houses. Who gives it to them? Does someone else give it to them?Do I know that I have—Who makes the game? Do I make the game, or do they make the game? Is there 30 owners, that created the league?
