ESPN was talking about Jason and Coach Saban having a good relationship I noticed we don't go after Bama players. Is this do to inside information between the two? I was just curios.

Yep, Rolando was the "RKG" NOT that Garrett looks for. Sabin likes those kind of
fringe guys more than Garrett.

It is just the way things work out in the draft. I am sure if any other coach contacts Saben, he will give his opinion about his players, as to a positive way.
Now Garrett may get better info, but I wouldn't think that has a bearing on why they do or don't draft / sign Alabama players.

Ohio State vs Alabama in the sugar bowl.

I would think Saban had an opinion of Ezekiel Elliott that could provide worthy insight on the 4th overall pick in this years draft.

We liked Mark Barron too but we ended up taking Claiborne instead. I wonder if Saban had insight into that choice or not?

A lot of Bama players don't fit the mold of what we do, particularly on defense, but I'm sure JG would like to draft them if they're a scheme fit.

Saban has been a friend of his since Miami and is responsible for us giving McClain a chance. I would be surprised if Saban didn't give him a comparison of Elliott vs Henry. The Boys knew they could wait until the 2nd to get Henry. Pretty sure they talked to him about Claiborne before they pulled the trigger on that one. Their relationship is why we didn't go after Kirby Smart as DC and went after Kiffin instead.

The other connection we have is with Brett Bielema at AR and Yosemite is our center because of that relationship. If you're not familiar with him, he's a linemen guru and his backs always got crazy stats at Wisconsin but it was because of the OL. He also coached JJ Watt.

One thing about Garrett, like him or not, he gets a lot more respect from those inside the football community than from the outside. I've never been much of a Garrett fan but I have noticed those that know the game a lot better than I are fans of his.

The thing here, is that in College football, saints aren't always best...so it takes the ability to confront at all levels in a College Head Coach. Jason understands the merit of top producers at the collegiate levels, as did Jerry when he purchased the Cowboys. Back then, coaches from the college ranks were ahead of the NFL curve. That is why Barry Switzer was workable after the formation of the dynasty roster, as well.

Today, more often, without NFL experience, the College coaches are up on current player's skills...here is where a conversation between Jason Garrett and Saban are extremely productive.

A current feel is provided from the college ranks, and from someone at the top of it's game set.
