Cole Beasley's next contract

To add fuel to the fire, we are paying 400k of Switzer's salary to play for the Steelers............ ;)

Pretty much, he was always far more average than most fans seem to think, 2016 the anomaly.

Still has a top catch rate. I would imagine his separation is still about the same.

Like the info I provided above, awful lot of 1st - 3rd rounders around him

He would be our leading receiver if Cooper wasn't brought in.

If he is average, what do you consider the rest of our receivers

He's a good slot WR but he's way down on the priority list given the players the Cowboys need to retain. Just part of the business. Beasley wont have a problem finding a decent FA contract.

Obviously becoming more of a head scratcher by the second, especially if we don't resign Bease. But since our draft guru's selected them both i'd imagine we are in good hands

Beasley can barely get open anymore or so it seems. I really hope they let him walk but I have a sneaky feeling we will see another TWill situation where we are supposedly getting a bargain for essentially what amounts to nothing. Nothing in return that is.

Amendola only got 6 million a year - 2yr 12 million

Julian Edelman signed a two year, $11 million contract extension with the Patriots on June 9, 2017. Per ESPN's Mike Reiss, Edelman received a $5 million signing bonus and the team fully guaranteed Edelman's 2018 base salary. Another $2 million is guaranteed for injury. There are $500,000 in yearly per game roster bonuses and workouts as part of the extension. Another $4 million in incentives are available to max the contract out at $15.5 million..

Maybe this is something Dallas tries. Although, I'd say Edleman has declined in play

I disagree. You never know what you are going to get with a rookie. Look at Switzer. He did nothing his rookie year. Like all receivers, they tend to need a year or two to develop and catch up to the speed in the nfl versus college.

Beasley may not be a game changer, but he is as reliable as they come in terms of production and moves the chains. Which is what this team is all about. Grinding down your opponenets.

Plus, he is always healthy and in the field.

Well worth a next contract imo.
I disagree. How you expect a rookie to produce only getting 9 targets the entire year. Beasley best year is 5 TDs, Ridley has that in almost 1 game. You can't produce without targets. Beasley isn't worth the contract

Per over the cap, Cole Beasley signed a four year $13.6 million contract with the Dallas Cowboys on March 3, 2015. Beasley received a $4 million signing bonus and $5 million in full guarantees. His 2016 salary will become fully guaranteed of on the roster the 5th day of the 2016 League Year. He is eligible for annual $500,000 escalators.

The front office has a big decision once his contract is expiring at the end of this season. Beasley has been a reliable player for this franchise.

He caught 75 passes from Dak in 2016 for 833 yards for 5TDs. In 2017, his production dropped off while only catching 36 balls for 314 yards and 4TDs. But we all know how much of a disaster 2017 was for everyone. He has already surpassed last years numbers this season catching 48 passes for 468 yards and 2 scores. And is the teams 2nd leading receiver.

How would you handle Beasley at the end of this year? Do you let him walk in free agency and if so how do you plan on replacing his production. Or do you ink him to a new deal.

Personally, I think he is worth a new contract and slightly over pay him considering his past deal.

4 years 22-24 million
2019 Cap Number 4.5 million
2020 Cap Number 5.5 million
2021 Cap Number 6 million
2022 Cap Number 6.5 million (if cut, 6.5 million in cap savings.

I'd say 4 years for 24 million would be my ceiling on him. But if ends up walking, trading Switzer made absolutely no sense. We used a 4th round pick on him and basically got nothing in return.

Tavon Austin is just to injury prone to be tasked with the starting slot receiver position. Can't count on him.
Switzer would be cut anyway.

He's done absolutely nothing in Pittsburgh.

If Switzer was better than Beasley his rookie year, he would have had more targets. Not a knock on Switzer but he needed a year to learn and grow.

Ridley was a 1st round pick. We don't have a 1st rounder. Plus he is an exception to the rule. It has been pointed out that 1st round rookie WRs have all been duds since 2015.

Switzer could perform just as well as Beasley if not better. This thing you guys got for Beasley is mind blowing. He isn't special and Switzer didn't get on the field because the coaches don't play backups until an injury happens. I used Ridley as an example of how bad Beasley stats are. Last season he has 34 catches, a rookie can easily beat that. Heck Gallup is already better than Beasley as a rookie and was a 3rd rounder

Looking at the "now" Beasley is the team's leading receiver.

Why are you only bringing up 2017 numbers. 2017 was a bad year for every receiver. Let's look at 2016. He had 75 catches for 800+ yards and 5TDs. He should end 2018 with about 65 catches for about 600 yards.

Those are good slot receiver numbers in an offense that is focused on running the ball so much.

He won't be back. Here's his replacement:

Coop
Gallup
Austin

^starters next season. Book it.

7 catches in 6 games this season, 13 catches for the entire 2017 catches. I am not certain that Austin is the guy either. If he might decide to sign a very reasonable contract, in order to stay, I think that might be an option for the short term. I would not give up any real money for him at this point. I would definitely draft a WR this year.

Obviously, we can look to FA to see who we might be able to bring in but I think the long term answer to this question is not on this team yet.
