The only negative I had about Romo when he was playing was the sinking feeling I used to get when he threw a bomb, because I always worried it'd be picked off. But that feeling went away in his last few seasons. He was a dang good QB. I don't understand why people blame him for that FG either. Hell, they even changed the rules about team balls after that, because the ball was so slick, unless I'm remembering wrong.

I never hated Romo. I liked him a lot.

That being said it’s the lack of playoff success. As fair or unfair as it is. It’s the same criticism leveled at Dak too.

Honestly Romo was better than Dak is. But NEITHER have been good enough.

BTW, when did criticism officially get turned to hate?

Is this a byproduct of the Swifties movement where grown men have now adopted it?
Calling criticism hate is just good old fashioned manipulation. Rather than take fair criticism at face value. Play the victim and accuse the other of hating.

It’s very old societal behavior with a new name. That’s all.

No, you read some of those posts on romo like some on Dak and there is no doubt that is hate filled. Do not try and claim otherwise; that is a product of the social media age when you can pretty much say anything without consequences

Romo received a lot of hate for the exact same reason Dak receives a lot hate. It’s their lack of playoff success. Neither QB has had it in the big games and most of it was and is due to the team around them. They had to shoulder too much of the load.

I guess I've always thought that "hating" someone was strictly related to a personal level.....not their performance.

I'm critical of Dak but as a person I don't see anything he's done that's worthy of hate.....he seems like just a regular dude

Danny WHite got hated; Don Meredith Got Hated; If you do not win a ring you are hated here. If Dak does not win a ring he will leave being hated as well
Meredith got booed and it affected him. He was sensitive to the criticism. And he lost his confidence after some poor playoff games. The fans were ready for a change at QB. The fans disliked his play. But boy did he recover quickly!!! Monday Night Football showcased his wit and talent. He soon became very well liked by the fan base...even loved.

I never understood it either. Similar to why I don’t get the hate with Dak.

I do understand the frustration with fans re: the lack of postseason runs.

I do think it’s pretty funny that early on, Dak fanatics for a long time hung their hats on Romo’s poor playoff “W/L record” mainly because at that point Dak hadn’t been in the league much. Now, Dak has a worse playoff record and they all want to plead the many reasons why it’s unfair to blame a single player.
Right. The reflex seems to be blame the quarterback ... until you get what you want and see that the QB isn't to blame.

Not saying the QBs don't deserve scrutiny and they can't (or don't) contribute to failures, but I believe that both Romo and Dak are good enough QBs to have Super Bowl wins, and I'll die on that hill. If Eli can do it, they can if the supporting cast is good enough. The fact is that these Cowboys teams have put too much on their quarterbacks and they weren't superstars who could carry that burden (few are). It's a team game and it takes a team to win it.

I always liked Romo. He was a blast to watch. Just when he started to calm down and stop taking so many chances with the ball, his injuries got the best of him.
He'd have been more in control much early is the FO built him a run game sooner.

It's the same exact thing Dak needs to push us past the next round. Not a coincidence Romos best season was with a dominant run game in 2014.

In other words, everything has to be perfect for said QB. Dak and Romo are the same guy.

Everybody loved Romo... people didn't like that the front office let him down by putting out sub-par o-lines to get him killed. Amateur fans viewed this as "Romo sucks". So that's where that comes from.

People don't like Dak now because of his contract antics, strapping the team with limited cap. We never had issues with Romo signing.
