Colin Cowherd. I never understood why Tony Romo was hated by Cowboy fans

Look at who have rings: Trent Dilfer; Brad Johnson; Joe Flacco. Throw Eli in there as well. If they had rings than pretty much every Cowboy long time starter was good enough to get a ring.
I have argued against Danny White because he made a bunch of mistakes on his own while Dallas still had a pretty good defense. Staubach had 24 TDs to 19 interceptions in the playoffs (an acceptable level for that era). White had 15 TDs and 16 interceptions. He also had the big fumble against San Fran. Of course, I've read that it would be an incomplete pass now under the tuck rule.

The guys who hate Romo and Dak....it's the gutter of the fan base. Casual fans.
Casual fans wouldn’t care that much.

And I was critical at times of Romo and also don’t think Dak has what it takes. Don’t hate either one, but don’t think they have what it takes to get it done. Small minded folks call that hate, and so be it.

Thinking they can’t win is one thing. Offering up no criticism but “they sucks” is what makes a hater a casual.

I liked Romo but it's easy to understand why some didn't like him. Romo couldn't get it done and he had a couple seasons with a fantastic roster thstvhe should have gotten it done.

I understand why some didn't like him.

In other words, everything has to be perfect for said QB. Dak and Romo are the same guy.
That goes for about all but 3 or 4 qbs in the league. Neither one of those guys is of the level of Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers etc. I've enjoyed watching them both at times and felt tortured at other times.

The main reason I'd move from Dak is because we clearly aren't putting in enough resources to run or stop the run, consequently I believe we've seen his ceiling.

The only conflict I have is would we actually spend that savings to build a better team. That hasn't been our model in a long time.

I was a Romo defender until about 2011, when I became a critic. But I never hated him.

In hindsight, he was too young for the stacked late 2000s teams. And then unfortunately, his body failed him after we rebuilt the OL.

That's just tough luck, really.

What I won't forgive is saddling him with Jason Garrett for his entire career, sans 2006.

In 2015 we were 3-1 with Romo.

In 2015 we were 1-11 without Romo.

He’s the best QB we’ve had since Aikman, but that’s not saying much either.
In those 3 wins, what were those teams end of season W-L record?

How did those 3 teams rank, defensively?

Look it up and let us know.
Aren't you always spouting off about QBs who play great against lousy teams and struggle against quality opponents?

Just figured you might have looked at it before bragging about a QBs W-L record - guess you didn't in this case.

Never hated Romo and still honestly believe if he played for a more serious organization he would have sniffed a superbowl or two.

What drives me crazy is all the hate he gets for "choking" when in reality it couldn't be further from the truth when he was one of the primier if not the best 4th quarter and overtime quarterback during his years. People watch to much espn highlights and click bait mouth breathing analysts.

While Dak and Romo share similar post season records at face value the difference is night and day if you do an ounce of research.

Unfortunately his body took a beating in the early years and when we actually built an OL that would last for years to come it was to late.

Hell even Aikman and White get hate on this forum from certain people lol.

Well, Colin.

Because he, like the guy you bash daily, did not have great success come playoff time,
Because the teams he had sucked! He Dez for a few years and that was it! Patrick Crayton lost a touchdown because he let up on the route. I forget who the left tackle was that nearly got him killed. What running back did he have? He had Jason Witten and don't get me wrong because I love the character that Jason was for this team, but lets be honest ... he couldn't break a tackle to save his life and wow was he slow! So yeah Tony deserves a whole lot more credit than he gets.

I don't follow. He was in his 4th season and 26 years old when he became the starter in 2006. I don't consider that too young.

I agree. REAL COWBOYS FANS didn't hate him. Where do they get that, lol. I loved him - yes the playoff losses were heartbreaking - but man was he fun to watch. He kept plays alive with his scrambling back there. That cannon arm of his. So many 4th quarter comebacks.
The guy went from being an UNDRAFTED FREE AGENT to owning all of the records for passing in Dallas Cowboys history. Who doesn't root for a guy like that? He is the type of guy REAL FANS, not just Cowboys fans, root for - NOT HATE, lol.
True. In an interview before the SB, Maholmes was asked who were the QBs he grew up watching particularly for learning his game: one of them was Romo, in addition to the standards of Rogers and Brady.

Nah, but it's similar to bragging about a QBs 4th Qtr/Overtime comebacks then claiming with a little research, it will prove their point.

Like the oppositions year-end win percentage of all those comebacks is .285, if you did any research.

Aikman once said; to have so many comebacks, the team had to play pretty lousy outta the gate. The recent history of the Cowboys proves this, no matter who's playing QB.

This is not relevant in 2024.

I meant in terms of the maturation of his play on the field.
