Colin Cowherd. I never understood why Tony Romo was hated by Cowboy fans

Staubach and Aikman set the bar extremely high, so anything else is going to be looked down upon. The reality is both Romo and Prescott as well as Meredith and White are really good QBs that many other franchises would love to have the good fortune to have. Far better than having to go through the Peullers, Carters, and the other retreads out there.

Its guys like him. They create the narrative because the average persons worldview is shaped by these people on TV.

Right. The reflex seems to be blame the quarterback ... until you get what you want and see that the QB isn't to blame.

Not saying the QBs don't deserve scrutiny and they can't (or don't) contribute to failures, but I believe that both Romo and Dak are good enough QBs to have Super Bowl wins, and I'll die on that hill. If Eli can do it, they can if the supporting cast is good enough. The fact is that these Cowboys teams have put too much on their quarterbacks and they weren't superstars who could carry that burden (few are). It's a team game and it takes a team to win it.
Look at who have rings: Trent Dilfer; Brad Johnson; Joe Flacco. Throw Eli in there as well. If they had rings than pretty much every Cowboy long time starter was good enough to get a ring.

I would argue that since 1960 no franchise in the NFL has and more very good to great QBs than the Dallas Cowboys. You look at so many franchises where they get one really good QB ever decade or so at best. And some like Cleveland never do.

There’s always a group of people that hate players for various reasons, some legitimate, some not so much. That’s the nature of human diversity. I’ve seen hate of him by Cowboys fans, and I’ve seen a ton of respect of him from fans of other teams.

Romo was a good QB who folded in the playoffs. I don't hate him. I just hate the way some anoint him as elite. The same as Dak. The real problem with this team is the ownership though.

Using the word "hate" is hyperbole, and Cowturd (me using hyperbole) knows it.

Also, every player who doesn't achieve what their fans want will receive the same criticisms. It does not matter what team or what sport. It's all the same across the board.

This is bait meant to denigrate Cowboys fans.

Sans Romo, those teams would have earned much better draft positions and gotten better sooner.

In 2015 we were 3-1 with Romo.

In 2015 we were 1-11 without Romo.

He’s the best QB we’ve had since Aikman, but that’s not saying much either.
You left out a bunch of 8-8 seasons and that egg against the Giants but hey that kills your narrative. Dak was 13-3 with that same team a year later.

I’d argue he wasn’t hated by most Cowboy fans. Like with anything the loud minority noise blares over more moderate opinions. Not to mention the opposing fan haters and trolls.
I agree. REAL COWBOYS FANS didn't hate him. Where do they get that, lol. I loved him - yes the playoff losses were heartbreaking - but man was he fun to watch. He kept plays alive with his scrambling back there. That cannon arm of his. So many 4th quarter comebacks.
The guy went from being an UNDRAFTED FREE AGENT to owning all of the records for passing in Dallas Cowboys history. Who doesn't root for a guy like that? He is the type of guy REAL FANS, not just Cowboys fans, root for - NOT HATE, lol.

a number of posters throw around the hate thing especially as regards anyone criticizing Dak
But to claim there is not real hate in places is moronic

I guess I've always thought that "hating" someone was strictly related to a personal level.....not their performance.

I'm critical of Dak but as a person I don't see anything he's done that's worthy of hate.....he seems like just a regular dude
Agreed, Dak actually comes off as a classy person. Seems very thoughtful and sincere - rare for athletes these days. Ive read about how involved he is with community and charity. See nothing to hate there at all.
I think some people, especially on this forum, take what happens out on the field a little too seriously. Its a game, we are suppose to enjoy it and enjoy rooting for our guys and our team. One team has to lose.
Everybody doesn't get to be a Brady, lol.

Wonder what happens for Romo if Crayton catches that ball against the Giants. Or if the Dez non catch gets ruled a catch like it should of been. Romo was a dam good QB but just seemed to have an upside down horseshoe with him. Even that fumbled snap. What happens if he just completes the hold.
