Colin Cowterd Leaving ESPN

I hope this signals a change in ESPN, rather then their downfall. Sports landscape would be a wreck if ESPN fell of the map.
I don't watch near as much ESPN as I used to but I hope you are right. With the right tweeks, it could be must see TV again. There is no reason it should completely go away but it could be so much better.

I listen to Colin but he'd be much better if he kept his arrogant opinions to SPORTS and not tell everybody how wrong they are if they dont agree with his world view and how they should live.

I haven't found a station that I enjoy for sports news... I feel like they all follow the ESPN model to some degree. I will watch a bit of NBA TV, NFL Network is not very good, save their nostalgia. Fox feels like they are still learning.... Ive gone back to "reading" *Gasp*..... local papers at that... with a few blogs and podcasts on the side. If anyone knows of a visual option, please let me know...thanks....

I really like listening to Cowherd. I listened to him when he host a morning showing Portland, OR before he went to ESPN. Hope he does well with his next gig.

I really liked him, but then again I rarely listen to much sports radio so I guess I didn't get burned out on him.

I don't know.... Maybe....

Maybe it's time for a bunch of small to medium sports news outlets... Instead of one behemoth and a bunch of little people.

Was about time. Never understood the fascination at all. Ditto with Jim Rome.
Not that I care one way or the other, but.....

Cowherd is not being fired; he is leaving ESPN and will eventually get more money elsewhere.
Pretty sure they wanted to keep him badly.

BSPN would need to be torn down to its foundation; then have that blown up and the crater hollowed out. THEN maybe it would be worth watching.

He has zero talent of any kind so it is not a big loss.

ESPN has the actual games and doesn't need to pay high-priced hot air guys.

Bill Simmons was a loss. This is nothing.

Anyone who can listen to more than 5 minutes of Rome or this guy need to seriously re-evaluate their life decisions.

I can't stand Cowturd. He's basically made a career out of being contrarian on every single sports or non-sports related issue, he pisses a group of people off, then makes fun of their responses to him on the air. Other radio personalities who've spoken candidly about him call him a huge *******, who speaks about his fanbase like their idiots, and really doesn't tell his real opinion....just what gets ratings. I find his constant criticism of John Wall particularly disgusting. If he left ESPN for Fox Sports because he wanted more freedom, wow, I can't imagine the stupid crap he's gonna spew.

I can only shake my head as I read this thread
It is not "the fault of ESPN", this is the nature of sports (and really all) news

Sensationalism sells

He spends way too much time talking about things that arent remotely related to sports.

Like some one else mentioned I dont mind him in small doses but he gets on my nerves after a while. He is just a bit too feminine for me.

The few times I've listened/watched his show, I thought he was ok.

Won't tune into FS just to watch him though.

I remember when he was a radio sportscaster and news sports anchor in Portland (Ore) before his ESPN rise. I couldn't understand why ESPN hired him back in the day, and never understood his success. He was boring back in the Portland days.
