The only problem with Lawrence is he will not fall below the first pick because he is all the Jets if they want him. They will not win one game this year 0-16.
I'm all in for Trevor Lawrence.
I know it makes me a bad Cowboy fan right now but I don't care. I was happy losing to Philly and I hope we keep taking L's.
I want this team to compete for titles and getting stud players is how you achieve that.
It's only November and there is already rumblings he doesn't want to be a Jet and the Jets could possibly stick with Darnold and actually put some pieces around him.. Darnold is only 23 and they have failed him.
I want to be so bad but he is putting nothing on tapes that wows me.
Don't get me wrong I think he will be good but everything is so optimal for him and that aside I don't see crazy upside either.
He's going to be a solid player like Dak.
I think the case for Fields is you can replace Dak with Dak part 2 for cheap which is still a smart move for team building.
I would imagine that Lawrence is going #1 no matter what. If the Jets don't take him, they probably trade down with somebody and they take him. I'm cool with it. I like Trey Lance. I think we can get him a little cheaper and I think he has way more upside then Fields.

If fields is the same as Dak you take him because of the moneyThis is the big question. If Fields is capable then this should be a serious strategy. Dak is good, but he is not elite. Meaning he needs several assets around him to keep the offense rolling. The top QB's do not need 3+ high level skill players to score a lot of points.
If Fields is legit then take him. Put the money you spend in Dak into the defense. It will take Fields a couple of years and we could compete in 3 years for a SB, if we draft well and spend wisely on FA's.
Trey Lance can run but his throwing mechanics I do not like. Maybe it's correctable but he has a very slow release. There were some other things I wasn't a fan of but I need to go back and look.
He does have upside but I think the Alabama and Florida kid need to start getting some consideration as even being the #2 QB taken.
The Alabama guys release is just like Romo. Like it's spot on. He can move a little too but I wouldn't say he is a gun slinger. He plays like a NFL Vet already.
The Florida guy, Trask, is like Stafford and Wentz. He's impressive too.
It's still so early and I can change my mind on a lot of this stuff.
There are a lot of games left to play before the Cowboys have the luxury of drafting in the top two. With the way this FO has been operating,
the Cowboys will win a few more games and still not get the Dak situation handled. If Dak is the guy, great, but if he's not, don't win anymore
meaningless games!
Yeah, Trask is interesting. Ole Muschamp has him tuned up.
No Bama QBs for me Catch. I don't trust em.
Lastly, one of the biggest things Dak gives you is his ability to stay healthy. Now, I realize that this is a bit of a contradiction right now but that's a big part of what Dak gives you. a kid like Fields, I don't know that he is the same. I don't know that you are going to get a QB who just gives you starts without missing games etc. I'm not so sure about that one, in terms of comparing Fields and Dak.

The question to me is can he be as good as Dak
And on that I’m not convinced
I wasn’t convinced Dak could be as good as Dak is when he was drafted either
So my QB scouting may be under par lol

Everyone wants an elite QBI agree with that thought process, but I am concerned Dak may not be good enough as well. Dak is very good, but not great.
If Dak requires significant resources around him to function at a high level, maybe the juice is not worth the squeeze.
Lets invest in the rest of the team, if a similar upside QB is available. Very good QB's cannot consume 40 million a year of your cap.
Everyone wants an elite QB
But they are few and far between
You can’t build a team to win without a good QB
You want an elite one but you can win with a good one
No matter how good you are you can’t win with a bad one
Fields doesn’t look like a top 2 pick to me
If I thought he was actually a more athletic Dak I’d draft him because of the moneyhe is slightly a more athletic version of Dak,why not keep a sure thing in Dak and get more picks by trading down or draft SEwell to replace Tyron?
Really good stuff. Nice dialogue between you and @CATCH17 on the subject.I don't know that it's slow, per say. I mean, I too would like to see a little more of a compact release but honestly, I've seen him snap the ball off on he run or when he sees the open man clearing so I know he can do that but I understand what you are saying. When he sets up, he has a little bit of a windup to it. The thing about that kid though, he is really accurate with his deep ball. He throws it and his WRs just run right under it. You don't see them stop and have to come back a lot. He's definitely faster then Dak. I will very interested to see him run. I wonder just how fast he is? He doesn't look fast but when he breaks out, nobody is catching him and he's showing separation from DBs so he may actually have some kick to him. If you can find some, watch some Warren Moon tape at Washington. Tell me what you see.
I really would like to be able to see more on Lance but I don't think you are going to get that. He does hold the ball a little bit too low at times and he has a bit of a windup but he has real long ball accuracy and he can break the pocket and threaten downfield for sure.
There is another kid out there, as well. Zach Wilson from BYU. He's really interesting Catch.
If you get in the position to draft great you do itWell, a great QB vs a good QB might be round taken, in terms of the draft. Why is that important? When we took Dak in the 4th round, that was great, excellent value but it really hurt us, in terms of signing. He had a 4 year deal as opposed to a 5 year deal so it kinda screwed everything up, so to speak. I mean, if you are gonna draft a QB, I'm not sure it's not better to go for great, as opposed to good, in terms of that 5th year option.
If I thought he was actually a more athletic Dak I’d draft him because of the money
He’s certainly more athletic but I’m not convinced he’s comparable to dak
