The guy has a lot of talent. He needs to develop the durability to match.

yeah. I'm not going to pretend like i can watch game film like a scout, but he looks very smooth and plays the position with relative ease. Has all the physical traits. But can't stay healthy...probably starter's ability but his lack of availability will likely keep him as a pro backup.

Yeah, I think you see everything you could possibly want to see for a prototype Tackle.

The question will be if it translates over to the pros and will he still have a good career after missing so much time in his rookie season.

I really believe that missing time as a young player in training camp can stunt your growth as a player.

Any word on his rehab? People talk about a redshirt year but I'd rather see if he can overtake Weems.

In my opinion, it's been too quiet on any news on Green. As if they're being told "don't ask". I would have to think that there are plenty of people like us who would be wondering.

I hoped Gibson would jump out of the pack but he's not moving up the depth chart at all.

Word is that Sunday was Gibson's best practice day by far. Reports are that he flattened Edwards in a one-on-one drill too.

I would think Bernadeau is still the likely gameday reserve for C/G but any prolonged absence Collins could then fill in at G. They also need to prepare for next season when they may not have Bernadeau.

In what I've read and heard, they're hopeful that McDermott will turn out to be Bernardeau's eventual replacement at C/G. I think that ideally, they would like to stash him on the practice squad for this year unless he really comes on and they felt like they could move Berny for a pick (a longshot to be sure).

The scouting report I looked at said Green struggled in pass pro...

In 556 snaps last season at Florida, #Cowboys 3rd-rounder Chaz Green didn't allow a sack and had no holding or falst start penalties.

No doubt. And the rules under the new CBA make it even more difficult.

I was a fan of Chaz Green before the draft and was expecting us to take him in the 4th. When healthy, I think he'll do just fine at RT, but I'm not against us grabbing a tackle early in next years draft.

Agree.. Keep drafting these guys..

Injuries are highly likely on the OL and it can cripple your entire scheme when you have a guy out.

I love our depth through the interior. If Martin and Leary go down i'd feel great with Bernadeau and Collins.

Tackle just looks bad right now.

As much as I don't like Free i'd trust him more at LT if Tyron went down to protect Romo's blind side.

Stick Weems or Collins on the right and Free on the left.

Just skimming through some Florida games from last year.

Chaz Green really looks like a good prospect. We need to get that guy back.

I hope so but for a different reason than you might suspect. He will forever be tied to the "we should have taken a RB with that pick" crowd and frankly I don't want to hear about that for the next 5 or more years.

My only thing is, while Green is a pure tackle, his ceiling isn't as high as Smith, Collins, Frederick, and Martin's at their positions. But with them taking him in the third, it tells me the coaching staff believes his ceiling is a little higher than I do. If he becomes a Doug Free-like talent, that position will still do fine.

No.

This is speculation, but I have a feeling that the Cowboys intentionally held him out so other teams don't get a look at him. Easier to try and sneak him on the PS if there isn't any game tape on him.

Yeah agreed.

After David Johnson went off the board I did not feel like any of the RB's left were better then what we had.

I know there was Ajayi love on this forum but he did not look good to me.

Very likely, but I think that if they try to get him on the practice squad they will fail and lose him.

I think his roster fate is directly tied to Chaz Green.

If Green comes back soon, they probably try to sneak Gibson to the PS. If not, I think they PUP/IR Green and keep Gibson on the 53.

Looks like they are shuffling everyone right now.
It is just that point of pre-season.

It's actually a poor sign for Collins if they start moving him around a lot once everyone is settled because it means he has lost his chance to start at LG.

Whatever the case it nice to have all this talent to play with.

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good.
Chaz Green was drafted ot be the swing tackle and Gibson was drafted to be a developmental RT but both look like lost causes year 1.
Landing Colins has been almost mana from heaven.

Gibson has shown zero to make him worth keeping to this point. They'd almost certainly like to get him to the PS but reality is, he doesn't look like a guy that can help this football team anytime soon, if ever. You could PUP Green and go one light on the OL early while RB/WR sort themselves out.
Obviously, it would be fairly miraculous to not have any injury in the first 6-8 weeks.

Don't think it will take long for it to happen.

I don't know. I think more and more he's the left guard of the future. We'll probably let Leary play out his contract and then tender him or let him test the waters. I've been saying Collins was Free's replacement, but looks like I'll be wrong in that prediction.

I would not mind seeing him get some work at RT in camp and practice but I hope he never sees real playing time at either tackle position this season.

Same. I hope he continues to develop and eventually takes over at Left Guard. But only if Chaz Green is starting-quality at RT eventually, and moreso than Doug Free.

At this point, who does? Green is unavailable with no ETA, and Dill and Wetzel proving to be camp bodies. And, after some good early camp reports, Weems laid an egg at LT against San Diego.

Before yesterday, I hadn't seen nor heard any news about Gibson - good or bad.

If you're going so far as to PUP Green for the first 6 weeks, does it make any sense to take him off of that list after 6 weeks and hope he shows enough to be worth anything? Or does it make better sense to just IR him for next year?

From left to right: Smith, Collins, Frederick, Martin...now, I don't care how this season's right tackle looks. That is a future for five seasons, and easily improved upon in the immediate future. Even with Free, this season is stable and with depth.
