him and the cowboys seem to be far apart on numbers.

Free agent T Marc Colombo visited the Broncos on Friday.
He was considered a priority for the Cowboys after they re-signed Andre Gurode, but the sides are reportedly far apart in contract talks. Denver may be looking to beef up at right tackle after trading George Foster.

I am curious what he wants and how we could be "far apart".

as I noted in the other thread, nobody knows mroe about Columbo that our coaches and medical staff...it could be they are saying Columbo is still a huge medical risk and might not be worth a huge investment in signing bonus and/or other guaranteed money

if he's wanting 10-12 mils up front, he isnt worth it

I'm not a big fan of how we approaching one of the biggest weaknesses of our team. Instead of getting better we are taking a step back.

Doesn't matter anymore.

We've missed the window on this.

He's a FA and he will sign somewhere...he played very well for us in 2006.

You are reaching for explanations that honestly are flimsy at best.

Those same coaches and medical staff made him a priority to sign before free agency. If we were concerned about his health or talent, we wouldn't have bothered.

They failed.

I would like to know, did we give him a ridiculously low offer for a starting quality tackle or are his demands outrageish?

You get that from 1 full day of free agency? Be patient my friend. Our OL will be in a lot better shape than it was last year before training camp starts.

i woudnt put too much confidence in dallas' medical staff. remember they cleared henry to play vs the cardinals in 2005, and he reagrivated his injury and was basically worthless the rest of the yr?

I'm going with the first option.

I agree 100% with what you said. Jerry dropped the ball on this one. Romo better start working on throwing on the run to his left side.

I have seached the Denver Post's Bronco section and they make no mention of a Colombo visit. A Green and Brad Johnson are coming though.

I would say given Jones history of paying guys who are proven here, Columbo priced himself out of town...or at the least, the Cowboys told him to go find his market value

it is not beyond the realm that our medical staff is saying to be cautious with him...sure everyone wants him back, but not to the extent that we kill ourselves cap eise in 2 or 3 yrs if his career ends prematurely because of the knee...we do have some history here with guys getting contracts late in their careers despite health concerns, and those contracts blowing up for us because said players career did end early

Again, I would really like to know what is going on.

I won't condemn Jones for being shortsighted or Colombo for being financially gluttonous just yet.

How do you know he will sign with another team for sure or not give the Cowboys last option to sign considering we helped him literally resurrect his career?

None of us including you has a clue but I stand corrected if you are negotiating with Columbo's agent on behalf of the Cowboys.

It may be neither. They may be both just trying to find out what Colombo's market value is. Who knows, Colombo could give Jerry ROFR.

Maybe what you said here is true regarding Henry, i can't say i know enough about the situation to blame the medical staff for that specific situation. But by all accounts, Dallas is supposed to have one of the best, if not THE best medical staff in the league.

yeah I'd bet that had more to do with the HC than the medical staff

I missed it. With whom has he signed a contract?

Let's hold off on the failure until he signs with someone else. As far as Jerry getting him signed before FA started...how do we know that Colombo and his agent weren't bound and determined to go out to the market particularly with these insane deals. These guys--players and agents--knew the market was going to be through the roof this year.

This is a joke right? Remember the coach we had who said that no one was ever injured? If you don't think that attitude gets guys back on the field before they might be ready, you're mistaken.
