The quote was from the movie, Wall Street. The WSJ, however, is the best news publication available. You don't have to be an investor to benefit from the top notch reporting. It's refreshing because you don't see the laziness that has infected the rest of the world of journalism there. It's unfortunate that they don't have a sports section, as it would probably be incredible.5Stars;1410343 said:burmafrd, don't try and act like you read the Wall Street Journal...your just as poor as the rest of us bastids!

But if I'm Colombo I'm ticked off at what can only be viewed by him as a low-ball offer and would jump at the chance to sign with another team IF it's anything better then the Cowboys. Of course that would depend if he gets a decent offer from another team.
Anyway, here's tidbit on Colombo:
From bloggingtheboys.com - You can now return to your regularly scheduled Marc Colombo vigil. By the way, Mick and other sources say the Cowboys have offered Colombo a two year deal at around $7 million. Maybe a little cheap, especially with the short amount of years, but Colombo has only had one year in the trenches and his knee is always an issue. Still, if the Cowboys added another year, they could probably lock him up as the interest seems to be lukewarm around the NFL. My guess is other teams are still a little suspect of his injury history. But Jerry might be holding out, hoping to get him to sign a "value" contract for the Cowboys, betting that he doesn't have too many options.
Redball Express;1410369 said:The reality is that these other teams know Columbo wants to remain in Dallas and are not wanting to set the price for him because they will have to over pay him if they offer a better deal than Dallas is.
And Columbo will shop it with Dallas and that will be that.
Teams aren't going to play a high-stakes game with Marc Columbo because they figure Dallas must know the player best, Dallas very much needs him and their offer is sort of low.
So they are probably smelling abit of a rat there.
They can't really win.
So..
Columbo sits with Jone's offer and nobody is going to play Texas Hold'em with Jerry.
We'll sign him shortly because the price is only going to go down once we are past the 2nd week of FA and Dallas may take that money and sign another need position.
We still have a couple other needs beyond RT as I recall and Jones just hedged his bet with the Davis signing and the ability to play RT if needed.
Marc, better get to signing before you start to sliding.

7 million is not what it was yesterday....

Evidently Colombo is not getting any bigger offers or he would have signed with someone. Because he wants it does not mean he will get it. Heck there are a lot of things I want and maybe feel I deserve but that is not reality your worth has a lot to do with what others think of you and your ability not what someone else just got paid. I guess that is where I differ from others around here. Is your worth or value based on someone else worth or value or is it based on what owners feel your value as an individual is.

Colombo was given probably his last shot in the NFL by the 'Boys and he did a decent job. His knee will always be an issue since it was a very severe injury. Props to him because it took a lot of hard work just to get it back in shape. However, the offer of $7mil ain't nothing to sneeze at especially since he was almost out of chances. Seems to me he should take the 'Boys offer and prove that last season wasn't a fluke; that his knee can really hold up. After 2-years, he'll hit the FA market again and, depending on his performance, go for even bigger $$$. BTW, how's KFC treatin' ya.....sacase;1410144 said:Why do people always seem to think that NFL players have a choice of being millionares in the NFL or working at fast food places. I guess they need to make themselves feel better.
