i'll always be use to Jon Stewart and Hal Jordan as the lead Green Lanterns.
Always thought you have to break in and earn your stripes on Super Friends Legion of Doom,.. or Justice League Unlimited before you can claim the lead GL role.

Marvel Fans Showing Franchise Fatigue, While DC Fans More Likely to Prefer Single Superhero Over Universe, Says New Fandom Study

Over one-third of Marvel fans feel fatigued from the constant stream of content served in theaters and on Disney+ this year, according to a new study released on Thursday by the fan platform Fandom. But the study also shows that Marvel fans are also far more inclined to watch any Marvel project in comparison to DC fans, who in turn are more likely to consume film and TV about a specific superhero rather than the entire DC catalogue.

Those are a few of the extensive findings in the study, which drew from a survey of 5,000 entertainment and gaming fans between 13 and 54 years old, as well as what Fandom terms “proprietary insights” from its platform of over 300 million monthly users across 250,000 different wikis.

The most intriguing assertion of the study is that fans can be broken down into four subcategories of roughly descending order of intensity.

The Advocates: They are the core fan base, described as “deeply invested in the IP,” so much so that it’s “part of who they are.” They are most likely to watch content within the first few days of its release. Some franchises with a high number of Advocates include Marvel, “Rick and Morty,” “Harry Potter,” DC, “Star Wars,” and “Stranger Things.”

Radio Silence To Direct New ‘Escape From New York’ Movie For 20th Century Studios

EXCLUSIVE: Hot directing team Radio Silence will next helm the reboot of Escape From New York for 20th Century Studios.

The Picture Company partners Andrew Rona & Alex Heineman will produce the film along with Radio Silence.

Original filmmaker John Carpenter will serve as executive producer of the film, which is a Studiocanal library title; the French company will hold distribution rights in several territories. The Picture Company has an overall deal with Studiocanal.

The team has been featured sparingly in the animated series Young Justice during last season's Phantoms storyline. I *think* they were in the Supergirl series along with Mon-El but I had stopped watching the show by that time. They had a moderate supporting role in the animated movie Justice League vs. The Fatal Five. Heck, they have even appeared briefly in an episode (or was it two?) back in The CW series Smallville.

This time it appears the full contingent of 31st century superheroes will take center stage finally, albeit with the customary Superman and Batman cameos . All I have to say is...

...it is about <expletive> time.

I can definitely see live action production possibilities for Etrigan, J'onn J'onzz, Deadman , Zatanna and Two-Face. A Green Lantern Corps will likely re-surface in the future since Earth's lantern superheroes are intregal to DC.

I would LOVE seeing Raven getting the Constantine type treatment outside of HBO's Titans series but it is real iffy. The studio seems extremely content making an increasingly idiotic mockery of the character in cartoons over the years.

I disagree with most of the others because I think their backstories are more suited as supporting role characters than lead characters.

Amazo: Professor Ivo's creation served as major foe of the Justice League members. He did later evolve into a superior cosmic being, which is the picture example you posted. There is a story there but not sure it is powerful enough to convince the studio to support a solo project. It would be kinda like seeing a Dr. Manhatten series or movie appear and that has never happened.

Darkseid: You cannot have the Apokolips rule going solo primarily and not have other New Gods material and characters weighing in heavily. For me, I can see a series with the entire DC Universe omitted except for the New Gods environ for storylines and Darkseid being a major cog in that machine though.

Solomon Grundy: Basically, Grundy is DC's version of The Incredible Hulk. Problem is, Warner Bros and DC have never given his character strong sustaining spotlights in many past projects in animation. Not sure why they would think differently for live action in the future. Who knows though? James Gunn does have the quirky imagination for possibly entertaining the idea.

Clayface: Waaaay too complicated for live action. Don't see that ever happening.

Wonder Twins: Remember. The new Warner Bros Discovery CEO squashed that previously approved project (thank goodness)

Parasite: See Solomon Grundy above.

Mr. Mxyzptlyk: Stop... reaching... for... ban... hammer... STOP!...

Silver Banshee: Dude.

Brainiac: I would like reading your ideas for the character as a major lead character. I have seen him done in SyFy series Krypton and various animated movies and cartoons but he is highly dependent on other story strings like Darkseid.

Karate Kid: The character is a blast from the past. I had even forgotten him. Do not see him ever getting the Shang-Chi treatment though.

Doomsday: Superman vs. Doomsday? Better than Batman v. Superman? I'm certainly game Past animation matchups were well done. The previous live action matchup in the Smallville series was both exceptionally brief and sucked. However. The proposal of seeing the character in any other imaginable live action production? Why? For what reason? He was created to kill Superman. That's it. What other material can be written and produced for Doomsday?

Sinestro: They tried it already with the character in a supporting role. I doubt they will do more than that in the future, although he should re-appear in that capacity at some point.

James Gunn has already teased that Deadman is coming to the DCU. Same thing with Mr. Terrific. I imagine they will bring a lot of the 2nd tier characters out to play. Maybe not as lead characters, but as supporting ones. My guess is they will finally do a Justice League Dark movie with the likes of Constantine, Deadman, Zatanna, and Etrigan.

Meh... If they haven't ask and added ' Me " to their supposed fan survey, ..then any polling suggesting " getting tire of Marvel " doesn't matter.

I'd take it more serious if certain Superhero forum had their polling survey and results questionaire, because i've read where studios and producers chime in undercover to get a vibe for
what superhero fans are asking- demanding .. (ala Ant Man, Moon knight, She-Hulk, and Werewolf By Night)

Personally, I believe a huge population, as diverse as Fandom's, cannot accurately sample solely Marvel and DC fans' opinions. Their study may skew more favorably for general audiences instead of fan-specific audiences for this reason in my opinion.

What interested me more about the article were the four fan categories supposedly identified by the study. I think I am about half-and-half Advocate and Intentionalist myself but definitely not a Culturist or Flirter.

Hopefully Swamp Thing, Solomon Grundy and Raven could be additional considerations as well ..

I mean to include Swamp Thing. Grundy is a possibility. I don't think Raven would be part of that, but could be. She seems more tied to the Teen Titans, but she was part of the animated film Justice League Dark Apocalypse. I definitely would not be opposed to all of those characters together in a film or series.

@quickccc, I have changed my mind somewhat. It is not an impossibility all of the characters you mentioned may get live action shots on The CW network at some point. If a series like Legends of Tomorrow can make it on that network for SEVERAL seasons, anything is possible.

@DallasEast what now turn the tide of expectations and quality and has me excited about the prospects of such projects is new place and direction of the new DC Universe.

They won't be settling for junk projects just for the sake of throwing a dart in the dark on the wall. They are aiming for grade A quality. the Wow factor.
Pulling the plug on a questionable new Batgirl movie before it's release, because it was considered junk quality was the telling tale movement about the new DC Universe.
If they are indeed taking pride and a stand as such, i wouldn't-shouldn't have a worry about encountering and re-living the likes of DC Legends of Tomorrow....lol ....
