Hopefully one day, social media will adopt some generalized sense of honesty because too many sick puppies have had access to it for way too long. Unfortunately, I believe I will be pushing up daisies long before that possibility happens. :(

That said, Marvel Comics created several She-Thing characters. I do not remember Ben Grimm being one of them.

A team associate named Sharon Ventura was temporarily transformed into She-Thing. Then she was revealed to be a Skrull. It is possible someone in the interwebs morphed that bit of trivia into a gender swapped Thing..? Who knows? Skrulls ARE coming back though in Secret Invasion. Maybe there is a tie-in somewhere but the Skrull re-introduction happens way before the FF 2025 premiere.

However, the MCU has moved solidly into a multiverse phase of movies. A She-Thing Benjamin (Benjamina???) Grimm could easily exist outside the MCU's Earth-616 universe.

Oh wait. I recall a story or two where team members had their powers involuntarily switched between themselves but those did not include gender switching though (I think). This is starting to make my head hurt...
If they do, do a gender swapped Ben Grimm that will be proof that I am in the wrong multiverse!

Oh. I give zero credence to any talk of a female Thing.
I would give it 3% odds of happening but 0% involving Ben. Audiences saw America Chavez and Doctor Strange traveling through another universe where living things looked like Nickelodeon goo, so I cannot eliminate someone's imagination thinking it up and putting it on screen. Plus, it would not surprise me how much someone might desire 'spicing up' MCU's multiverse imagery after Everything Everywhere All At One.

Cover your eyes.

Here's a pic of Sharon Ventura as She-Thing:

Now think... BEN GRIMM.

I think that the traditional lineup and sensibilities of the Fantastic Four are a difficult sell already in the modern era. The struggles of the comic itself show that, and the performances of the films only make that clearer.

The idea of altering things further and alienating FF fans from the get-go would be a death sentence.

Understood but what I imagine someone else imagining is an extremely brief cameo of an altered Ben Grimm of another universe, while the main Earth-616 character would remain unaltered throughout the movie. Audiences have already seen similar concepts in multiple DCU movies this phase. If something like that is seen occurring outside Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben and that kills the movie's appeal for some or even most of the audience, it should die.

I’m very curious as to how they will ultimately choose to bring the Fantastic Four into the MCU. I’ve read that it’s not supposed to be a formulaic origin story, so that has me wondering what the plan is?

If it were up to me, I think I would not only do a multiverse-type move, but also one that places them out of time as well. For instance, a universe set back in time from our own, where it exists in the 1940’s. The FF have always struck me as being set in that era, no matter how times have changed.

Deadpool 3 will be bringing back Jackman as Wolverine, Colossus and Vanessa ( hubba hubba  ) and just to show that they truly understand their fans, they are bringing back X-Force member Peter. Throw up the "X"! :flagwave:

That whole X-Force recruiting scene was hilarious! Can’t wait for the next one. Very few movies make me laugh lately as much as the Deadpool flicks.

Poll: Marvel or DC Comics?

By Angelina Padilla-Tompkins | Northern Star
May 2, 2023

For years comic fans have been divided between Marvel Comics and DC Comics, but it is time we look at the facts and decide which one is actually superior.

There are several fundamental differences between the two comic companies that must be compared.

Location

Most of the Marvel comics and movies are centered around New York City, with the exception being “Thor: The Dark World,” which takes place in Europe and “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which is set in space.

Everything in the Marvel universe ends up back in New York in one way or another. After Captain America was frozen in ice for nearly 70 years, he woke up in New York. Stark Tower was built in New York, and so Loki brought his arm to the city in his attempt to take over. Even in “Avengers: End Game,” the band of heroes end up back in New York for a period of time.

The poll is embedded at the very end of the article. I am glad to see (at least right now) there is a HUGE margin of opinion between the two. :muttley:

From GUARDIANS to SPIDER-MAN: Every MCU Trilogy Ranked From Worst To Best

By Cam Grey | ComicBookMovie.com
May 5, 2023

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 marks not only James Gunn’s swansong for his loveable band of misfits, but may also be one the final MCU properties to get the trilogy treatment, as Disney boss Bob Iger recently said: ‘’Sequels typically work well for us, but do you need a third or a fourth for instance? Or is it time to turn to other characters?’’

The Guardians threepeat is the second trilogy capper from Marvel this year, with Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania concluding the Peyton Reed-helmed franchise. Doctor Strange, Black Panther and arguably Captain Marvel, will be two for three by the time The Marvels debuts this November, but will we ever see those third films? Or will these characters fate be sealed in upcoming Avengers instalments or other films?

By Borys Kit, Aaron Couch | The Hollywood Reporter
May 5, 2023

The writers strike has taken a bite out of Blade.

Marvel Studios is shutting down preproduction on its vampire thriller starring Mahershala Ali, which was set to begin filming next month in Atlanta. The feature project, which has been paused once before, becomes the first tentpole movie impacted by the strike.

Cast and crewmembers are being notified this afternoon.

Blade had recently hired True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto to work on the script, but, according to an insider, “time simply ran out.” The studio will restart the production once the strike is over.

I don't know I think even with nerds it's still 50/50 at best.......lol
To be frank, I think it would be necessary in defining who those 'nerds and nerd kings' are (thanks @Runwildboys :D ). On one hand, there are those who have bought books, watched cartoons and been greatly entertained by these live action adaptations. On the other hand, there are those who have a real vested interest in the makeup and backgrounds of the characters themselves.

If all the nerds are counted together, I might agree with a 50/50 prediction. The nerds who:
  • want to see how Marvel/Disney adapts a representation of an ionic energy being (pretty unique in nature especially considering he is not a mutant)
  • has the duality of villain AND hero, who has walked a sordid fairly rich past on both sides of 'good and evil'
--those folks will comprise the bulk of Disney+ subscribers who will watch every episode, even if total viewership will be lower than Disney expects.
