None of the coaches that have been hired by other teams have impressed me so far. I don't know who everybody is expecting the next coach to be when they demand Garrett's firing.

So Garrett is more impressive to you than anyone else available? LOL

This may sound like I'm rootin for failure but I'm not. I really do hope Garrett proves almost all of us wrong and becomes a great coach overnight.

In regards to the coaching staff I was all for firing everyone at the end of the season even if Garrett is staying. Now I'm leaning more towards just letting Garrett have to same staff as the year prior so the blame cannot be "it's a new system" anymore.

My theory is they will crash and burn next year or at best be mediocre once again and they will clear out the entire staff hire a HC who can then choose his own staff. This year is more of an expected failure but if it works then Jerry gets the credit

It should help with the draft process. The scouting dept should now know exactly the type of players needed. The scouting dept and the DL coach didn't seem to be on the same page in regards to Floyd last year.

Some would say, don't draft for schemes that might be gone in a year, but you can't really just draft generic players that fit all schemes.

Isn't it sad it's come to this ?
Most of us willing to sacrifice a whole season, just so we can flush the toilet and start the right way ?

Edit, was not trying to insinuate that the current Coaching staff was crap, lol,
but I don't feel they are the best for this team.

You can say what you want; within the guidelines.

I love the Texans hiring of OBrien. Tough, no nonsense guy with NFL experience and experience dealing with bad situations. He's assembling a pretty good staff too. With a top pick they may make a quick turnaround.

Sadly I believe, like others that we have to wait for pure failure for Jerry to move.

Who would you hire?

I would've looked at O'Brien, Greg Roman, Whisenhunt, Shaw, Horton and few others. Of course I'd also let them be the actual HC, hire their own staff, decide who makes the final roster and the starting lineup, and have full control over the game plan and strategy.

Garrett is a proven failure and so is the coordinator as fake HC model Jerry keeps going with.

It's terribly sad.

I hate to sound like the old man because I'm not that old, but the older you get the more you hate to just flush years and seasons.

And much more than that, I think most would agree that Tony has at most -- at most -- three years left to play well. Maybe even just two years. So that'll be a full 1/3 to 1/2 of Tony's remaining useful career that we're going to waste because Jerry can't admit his grand experiment was a failure.

And then unless we get incredibly lucky, we're headed down the Quincy/Hutch/Vinny path of long shot draft picks, free agents, and retreads trying to find a QB. Boy... Can't wait for that.

And of course the same goes for Witten and Ware and whoever else might get injured or fall off quicker than expected.

It really is irrational to be a fan of this current franchise. It's one thing to have a bad year -- sometimes you get bad breaks or things just don't work out. But Jerry isn't even trying anymore. It sucks.

He never really did, unless you include the Deion signing for a chance at a last hurrah with Jimmy's core group back in '95.

No way anyone can really claim Switzer, Gailey, Campo, Wade or Garrett as figurehead/coordinator/fake HC was really trying. Or Jerry as GM listening to Lacewell and Switzer. Other than becoming desperate after the 5-11 years and wanting a new stadium which resulted in the hiring of Parcells, Jerry has done virtually nothing in the last 18-20 years to show he's really tried to win.

But now he doesn't even make a veiled attempt to even pretend. Here's Garrett and old man Kiffin and we're 8-8 and we're going to double down on it for next year. Gee, thanks Jerry.

It's that old saying...

Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.

:-(

That is the way I think about all Cowboys games these days except I more expect the worst than prepare for it. It is truly sad what this once mighty franchise has become.

So true and he basically admitted as much in his now infamous "training Garrett" quote. He would rather lose and have a coach he feels comfortable around than hire a winner. There is no reason to expect more than 8 - 8 next year and more than likely worse than that. This team is to me like a junkie on heroin. They are killing me and I know it yet I keep coming back for more.

Anything that guarantees Garrett is out the door next year I'm all for it. So if that means sitting through a 6 win season with the same lame coaching staff so be it

Problem is, we'll end up going 8-8 again, one game from making the playoffs, so we won't even get a top draft pick.

what really gets me is there are many who jump in and defend the Escobar and every other rookies pick by saying that to give them time, he's just a rookie and needs time to adjust. At the same time they are counting on the draft class of this upcoming draft to fix the defense. Really? Even if you use the entire draft on defense, does anyone really think that a bunch of rookies are going to elevate this team to the promised land?

I really think that this upcoming season will be a total waste. I don't see us coming close to 8-8, because we will be counting on a bunch of rookies to improve the defense. There is no other way to fix the defense. Sure Lee and Crawford will be back from injury, but what else is there? There is no money to buy help. Just like Garrett and the rest of the staff being here with no changes, Ware, Austin, Carr and all those over priced/underachieving players will be back.

This is how you realize people think when it is something they dont possess, if you were to ask someone, how many times can i break your expensive vase before you realize you are out of that money, trust me you are not having that conversation, when its something they dont possess or their own money, spend that crap or waste all the time you want.

Dallas Cowboys fans, so beaten up they all accept the word hope to save them. Wow.
I have my optimist hat on today. The team will be improved next year.

is 8-8 & 1/2 feasible?
