Since you are here I had to ask. Which camp do you belong to? Indian/Voodoo Curse or Gibbs Master Plan? :D

I'm of the camp that real football starts Sep 10/11. I know and you know that the Skins are better than the Jets. I know and you know that the Patriots are a great team.

And if you watch last night's game, you will see that NE is in midseason form with their midseason game planning and midseason play calling in the preseason.

No one has seen the Skins yet this season. If the Skins start 0-2, then I will admit some degree of worry. I don't claim to know what Gibbs'/Saunders'/Williams' plans are for the preseason vs. the regular season. I do know for a fact that Williams and Saunders intentionally put their players in difficult situations in the preseason to gauge their response and performance. We'll see come week 1.

On a different topic....cut TO before it's too late. Clearly you don't need him to win the Super Bowl. You're 3-0 in the preseason for goodness sake. :D

Ahh...I've seen this line of thinking at ES. It seems that everyone is gameplanning for the mighty Commanders in preseason. Vanilla is tne flavor of the month, and not just for the Commanders.

Not a single scoring drive for the starting offense during the season of vanilla...that should alarm you.

An absolutely rdiculous assertion there Famous One. Just last week Joe Gibbs challenged his players to step up their efforts saying what had been given so far wasn't good enough.

In other words, he isn't planning this collapse, he's concerned about it.

Yes, it's the pre-season and it won't matter one little bit come the time when the real fur flies. You get to start the season at home with the Vikings. If you are confident above concerned right now then I suggest you aren't paying attention.

I think you misunderstood me. My meaning was that I am not a Commanders employee, much less a member of the coaching staff. I.E. I do not know to what extent the offsense if vanilla. I do not know if they are really concerned or what they expect out of the team in preseason. In no way did I mean that Gibbs is planning failure in the preseason. I'm sure he wants to succeed, but I'm not sure they want to play their offense or defense in the preseason.

Since the injury to Portis, they have clearly scaled back the offense and played with caution.

I MIGHT believe that saunders has'nt used all of his offense, but Greg Williams?

First two games of the preseasons skins were going crazy about how the defense shut down first teams of the great anthony wright led bengals and the Chad Pennington led jets. Then when they play a good team "williams put them in difficult situations"

OH I SEE.lol

We got our butts handed to us last night. Our defense was decimated by their offense, and our offense was non-existant. Everything looked terrible.

That was one of the worst excuses for a football team I've ever witnessed.

However, it doesn't mean a damn thing. I know, I know...cliche. It's not an excuse though- it's a fact. There is a reason these games don't mean anything. It doesn't mean anything more than 11 v 11 drills. Sure, it might measure the talent between two teams before they are at full strength.

Do I think we looked pathetic last night? Yes.

Do I think we're ready for Sept. 11 yet? No.

Do I think that's what our team is actually going to look like in the regular season? No.

Am I worried? No.

When we lose 41-0 in a regular season, I will come here and let you verbally beat me.

If the Boys lost 41-0 in a preseason game (which obviously they haven't), I would also take joy in poking fun, but in the back of my mind I'd remember that it doesn't mean a damn thing.

Personally, I can't believe we're willing to show so much of of our massive playbook. What excuse will we use when we continue to play like this in the regular season? ;)

Bottom line is that the starters have not played well at all. Bottom line is that NOTHING has looked good for the skins. BUT Mossbummedout will NEVER admit that things are looking bad. He can't; they can't; remember that they come from DC where the TRUTH IS NEVER SPOKEN.

cowboy fans, dont read to much into the preseason..I realize you guys enjoy seeing the Commanders struggle, and we are struggling in all 3 phases of the game..you would be foolish to think the Commanders are that bad,and on the flip side you would be misleading yourselves if you think your team is really that good, based on how they have been playing in preseason...Trust me the Commanders are not that bad, when it starts for real the real team will show up for the Commanders and cowboys..until then, enjoy your preseason showing!!!:)

I think you're ultimately right, but the only thing that would worry me is that sorry performance came a couple of days after the coach went public ripping the team's effort. That says to me its not really an issue of "hiding" the playbook or not scheming or whatever, just that some guys on the team aren't on the same page here.

Ultimately this could be a bad sign or just a blip once the season starts, but I admit if this were happening with the 'Boys I'd be worried, especially with this division.

I agree that a team's preseason record means absolutely nothing...NOTHING..

But, I disagree with anyone that says it doesn't matter HOW your team looks in the preseason.

I think you at least need to see something.....I remember when we were in our "heyday". Believe it or not, PS really was a barometer of where our team was going. We would do well with our starters in.....then our subs would come in and get blasted.

As time went on and we lost more quality starters to FA and retirement, it became apparent that we were lacking in talent. Because...as Skins fans have stated...most teams run vanilla offenses and defense. It's pure talent on talent.

Your 0-3 record means nothing...but the fact that you've looked terrible doing it is a major concern. That does mean something.

Honestly, maybe you'll be better when you get Portis back. You'll also probably take more chances, especially with the deep ball.
