Commanders Portis officially placed on IR

The lastest report from XXX ESPN radio is that he COULD be placed on IR because of his hand and shoulder. As of now, only out 3-4 weeks.

Report: Portis could be headed to injured reserve

Triple X ESPN Radio's Bram Weinstein reports that an announcement could be made soon regarding Clinton Portis' status for the remainder of the season.

According to his sources, Portis, who broke his hand Sunday in Washington's 27-3 loss at Philadelphia, would be placed on injured reserve to create roster space if the Commanders, who are working out linebackers and defensive backs, decide to add a new player to their defense.

All of you that are happy about the state of the Commanders need to get your heads checked.

They need to win some of their remaining divisional games to help out our playoff hopes.

With a new QB and no Portis, the Giants and Eagles will get a leg up on us as they should win against the Commanders easily.

You do know that the only reason gibbs made the switch is so that it will hurt the cowboys, right? :

But anyways, I have faith in betts and duckett to run successfully. Although portis is our best player, he was by no means lighting it up this year. Whether that has to do with our line, or his injuries, or both, I think that our new combo should be able to run decently.

Betts has been running well all season, and duckett, well, has like 2 carries for 12 yyards on the year :laugh2: so we'll see

This is actually kind of funny... Redsk*n games used to be carried on WJFK, which is a powerhouse station here in D.C. and can be heard all over the DC/VA/MD area.

Little Napoleon wanted to get his grubby stubby hands on even more money, though, so he bought up three wimpy little stations and moved the Redsk*ns to them. So now, depending on where you are in the listening area, you have to tune around to three different low-wattage stations to pick up the games and mid-week coverage. Three stations, hence Triple X... to make a negative sound like a positive ("we don't just have ONE station, we have THREE!).

But it's a joke, the reception is horrible, and from where I live and work, I can't pick up any of them for more than a few miles... and once it gets dark, forget about it... no chance the AM station will come through.

Just another example of Danny-boy putting his wallet ahead of the fans and the fans continuing to lap it up like the idiots they are. :

supposedly he is getting surgery on his shoulder now as well, instead of waiting for the offseason to do it

I think he was stil having shoulder problems. They really haven't run him too hard all year.

WIth the switch to JC, the season is over. Might as well shut down Portis too and get him 100% for next year.

That's my guess anyway.

Alot of people thought our season is over with Romo. Let's wait and see what the kid brings to the table.

I wouldn't put anything past Gibbs. I also wouldn't put it past them to be tanking this season so they don't have to swap first round picks with Denver.

It all goes back to the Duckett deal. There was a clause in there that would have involved switching first round picks if the Commanders had a higher one than Denver.

However, there was apparently some clause in there that would prevent the swap happening if the Commanders pick was decent (I don't think anyone knows the specifics). So actually, the Commanders will likely end up hanging on to their first rounder this year.

yeah, the difference in picks has to be equivelent to a 4th round pick. So that is only a difference at 10 picks at the most. So it seems like we will give up our 3rd this year and 4th next year(getting a head start on getting rid of all of next years picks already )

I don't think CP goes on IR. If we manage to go on a 4 game winning streak then I see him coming back. If we end up losing one of our next games then I can see him being placed on the IR.

He's our best offensive player and he's been brutally dinged up all season. Shoulder, groin and now a broken hand. The guy just can't catch a break.

Thanks for the explanation, Danny... I'd heard about LDS buying some cheapo radio stations to broadcast his games because he wasn't happy with the money he was offered to carry his games, but didn't know the whole story.

Hate to say it, but Jerry almost did the same thing. The Ticket and 93.3 (FM carrier of Cowboys games) are pretty weak, too. If it were me, I'd try to get on one of these big blowtorch stations (like I guess WJKF is) so fans everywhere could get the games as well as the pregame, postgame, etc. Seems kind of short-sighted to take a few more bucks when it means fewer fans can listen to the game.

So if you're reading, Jerry, Stephen, or Jerry Jr... Next time go with WBAP, KRLD, or KLIF!
