With a team with several holes, and problems with depth at many positions. Why would you pay a DT, 16 per?

Albert Haynesworth obtenant sur-payé par notre rival détesté n'importe pas car nous ne le payons pas. Son talent est ce qui importe et il a beaucoup de talent. Cet homme regarde comme il peut consommer un porc entier tout seul. Si pressé il pourrait recourir au cannibalisme à la baisse d'un chapeau et puis où notre ligne d'attaque serait-elle ? Dévoré par cette montagne d'homme, c'est où.

At first, I got a little chuckle when someone passed along a rumor about Albert Haynesworth at the NFL Combine.

Someone told me the big defensive tackle was spotted eating dinner with Commanders owner Daniel Snyder in Indianapolis.

That would be a blatant case of tampering, of course. Along with a pretty big bill.

Later it was explained that it was actually Haynesworth's agent who was with him. And since Chad Speck has other clients in the NFL, including Commanders receiver Malcolm Kelly, he could get away with it.

But the buzz linking Haynesworth to the Commanders took on a life of its own on Tuesday when a reporter in Houston posted a blog indicating Haynesworth already had a deal in place with the Commanders, one that will pay him $15-$16 million a year as part of a $100 million deal.

Speck received over 30 calls as a result of the story, which he shot down in a statement on Tuesday evening

"Albert is not allowed to have a deal with another team and he doesn't have a deal with another team,'' Speck wrote. "We continue to keep the lines of communication open with Tennessee. The rumors suggesting that a deal is in place between Albert and the Washington Commanders is completely false."

The Haynesworth-to-Washington rumor makes sense for one reason: Snyder is an owner who likes to throw his money around and make a big splash.

Only this part doesn't add up: the Commanders rank among the teams with the smallest amount of cap room.

To make such a move they'd likely have to cut a number of players or do some serious re-working of contracts.

I guess anything is possible. But I talked to a buddy of mine who covers the Commanders who's pretty skeptical himself.

Dude if the Skins would be brilliant enough to sign Albert for a deal like that, and Canty for what he's wanting, I'd be able to rest happy for the next several years cause their cap would be wrecked and their D-Line still wouldn't scare me.

That's just it...their cap is already somewhat wrecked. So this kind of deal would be very tough to pull off.

Yeah but I'm pulling for them. I'm pulling for Danny Boy to somehow find a way to REALLY screw up his cap by doing these things. It would be beautiful.

haha i will laugh hysterically if the Skins sign him to that huge a deal... great player not taking anything away from him because he's a beast but thats a lot of money for a DT...

Find it hard to believe Haynesworth will be signed to a 100mil deal.

Think about it. Were talking 16 mil plus per year on a 6 yr deal.

I believe the 2009 cap is less than $140mil. I also believe we have some new rules in place this year with respect to how much a salary can increase year over(30%) and how many years a bonus can be prorated (5 years).

So lets speculate on what the "low ball" version of this deal would look like:

6 years 96 mil 25 mil Signing Bonus

Salary.............7.00....9.00....11.00....12.00....14.00...18.00
PR Bonus.........5.00....5.00......5.00.....5.00......5.00

This annual cap # would be about 8% of the salary cap. That's pricey!

What sucks is that this could be Ware's deal! Ouch.

I can't see him signing an 8 year deal. I'd be shocked if the deal was even 7 years. I'd imagine 6 will be about the length, maybe 7 since it's what Barber gave them last year. That length shocked me though as well.
