I heard the same thing when they signed Dan Wilkinson too.

Haynesworth may be a monster, but he was in a very good situation in Tennessee and really needed to stay there. But like many players, he's seeing the green and will go whereever just to get the contract. He's a very unstable person with questionable character and I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole, much less hand over a blank check and pay him.

You're completely wrong about Haynesworth. Your opinion has no value unless you really know Albert. I don't personally know him but someone I've known for a very long time and I'm extremely close to has known Albert for a long long time. He's a good kid. He's not unstable and has great character.

I'm not sure Gurode would agree with that. :D

I know you are jesting but for others who take it very seriously that was aberrant behavior for him. Not an excuse but that one action doesn't describe his life long behavior.

I agree. I don't see why anyone would be happy about this. This is one of the best DTs in the game and a guy who was up for DPOY consideration this year. Sure, he might get lazy after he gets a big deal, but I wouldn't want to chance that he keeps playing like he did this year.

For years the Skins have ignored their D-line, patching it up with retreads and low draft picks. I'd hate to see them put money into an important position instead of WR and S.
I'm not happy about it. The guy is a great player. I don't want them to get great players. I hope he does the fat cat I got mine thing, but I'm not stupid enough to guarantee he will.

Good signing until proven otherwise.

If they sign him for 100 million I disagree. he also hasn't played a full 16 games since his rookie season.

I care more about what he can offer on the field than how it can handicap them under the cap. The Commanders have shown they can manipulate the cap. It is no skin off my nose how much Danny pays him. What he can offer to the Defense means infinitely more to me.

REPORT: HAYNESWORTH TO THE ‘SKINS
Posted by Mike Florio on February 24, 2009, 1:09 p.m. EST

Our pal Lance Zierlein, a Houston radio host who has a blog at the Chronicle web site, reports that the Washington Commanders will sign Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth upon the start of the free agency period.

Unless, that is, the Titans exceed the offer that the Commanders will be making.

Writes Zierlein: “My source tells me to look for a contract that could break $100 million with an average of $15 million to $16 million per. My guy is almost never wrong and [Commanders owner] Dan Snyder gets what he wants.”

The bright side? The next time that Haynesworth tries to remove the scalp of Cowboys center Andre Gurode with a cleat, the behavior will better fit the nickname of Haynesworth’s team.

On Monday, Peter King of SI.com predicted that Haynesworth will land in D.C., pointing out that Snyder was seen dining in Indianapolis with Haynesworth’s agent, Chad Speck.

The bright side is that once the big man gets his pay day he will get even fatter and more lazy. And ole Danny Boy will be out $100 mill, woohoo!!!

How is this not tampering by the 'Skins?

Danny boy, being Danny boy I guess. A move like this could blow up in their face.

you beat me to it. That what I was thinking. Ware has more value than Haynsworth but I could be bias.

He is an absolute beast...regardless what some these guys here are saying.

However, there are two red flags: 1) 100 million, period 2) a long term (and 100 mill) deal for a guy who's best seasons where both in expiring contract years.

he will upgrade the Skins though...and comparing him to any of those other guys is not remotely apples and apples.

For the past 2 years, Haynesworth has been one of the elite defensive players in the league.

Some will say he is motivated by money. Every player is. The only difference is the extent to which they are motivated by it.

Even if Haynesworth would slack off some after a big signing, he's still a SIGNIGICANT upgrade over what they have now.

If they sign him, I hope its too a huge contract like it is being rumored. Because then, I can at least hope it hamstrings them somehow (although, they've proven time and time again they can manipulate the cap pretty well). Because from a talent perspective, this sucks if the rumor is true.

Wilkinson couldn't hold Haynesworth's jock. Haynesworth is arguably the best DT in the game today.

When King said that Haynesworth has never played more than 65% of his team's snaps, is that because of injuries? Or does he take regular breathers? He doesn't come off on passing downs right, I thought he was supposed to be a good interior pass rusher?

It's hard to be excited about this news as a Skins fan because of our history.

Although Wilkinson was a consensus #1 overall pick. High praise for a defensive tackle.

You're right that Haynesworth is arguably the league's best today.

But for the record, I wouldn't be 'afraid' if the Commanders signed him as I feel that he got his act together solely for his big payday.

Buyer beware.

Yeah, your history hasn't been good in that regard.

But I think there's a big difference in signing some player who were great but at the end of their careers, making bad trades, etc.... and signing a player like Haynesworth.
